1982 Hattera LRC

I have seen many boats that do not live up to the pictures posted by the broker on Yachtworld.
Yesterday, here in San Diego, I looked at a trawler that by the pictures posted by the broker looked really nice, in the real world it was an insult to the owner and the broker for misrepresenting the
boat. This boat looks really nice on Yachtworld, I am hoping someone here knows the boat and will be able to provide information about it. I am thinking of looking at it but after yesterday I am very hesitate about flying to Daytona Beach to look at it.

Ask if they will allow a surveyor to do a walk thru without a contract to get an opinion of the general condition. Has saved me a trip and $$$ before.

That HATT LRC looks really clean...BUT

Photos always look better than in person

Hints from photos: engine room equipment appearance, interior wood stains under windows,
exterior varnish condition, stained rugs.....

Looks like the LRC has a few window leaks....dark stains in three interior pictures......

I have read different specs for the 58/65 lrc. What is the actual draft of these lrc's?

I hear they also scored a price close to asking. Hatt made 13 of these stretched 58s from 1982-1986 and I know two were lost. One in Katrina and one off the coast of CA hit by a freighter in the 90s.

There were 44 of the 58s made and I only know of one that burned to the hull. Was then made into a work boat pushing barges around S. FL then someone fixed it up to take out divers in Belize were I heard it still works today. Another sank in Texas in Rita and may have sold on ebay recently. It will be re-fit I'm sure.

Draft is 5'10" (for both 58-65) except when full of water fuel and rum were I added a half foot. Figure 6 feet. The keel midships hits first.

If you are looking for a 65-58 LRC you are looking for one of 55 boats in total. 25 of these are members of the Hatteras LRC Club. They are good boats and hard to find. I would contact some of the brokers that have sold and know the LRCs like Curtis Stokes and Ray Bettes in Texas or even Judy Woodman (sp). Stokes is a member of the Club having owned an LRC and sold many. I know him well enough that he can look at a boat for you and give you a heads up.
