  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
60' MOTOR YACHT (1987 - 1989)
https://www.yachtworld.com/yacht/1981-hatteras-67-cockpit-motor-yacht-8974156/

I'm looking to buy it.
4500 hrs on 12v71s.
One of the stabilizer (Niad) seals needs fixin. (cost est?)

Referrals to mechanical and boat surveyors in St Petersburg?

Oh, BTW, Ray Brig in Knoxville TN is a yacht broker y'all don't need to bother with - ever.
(Not involved in this transaction.)
Just sayin.

Don't know the boat but when it comes to brokers I will NEVER talk to POP Yachts again. Photos look good, but there's such a thing as carrying the 'spot' thing too far. The Dalmatian towel fold is pretty clever though. Never saw a wet head on a Hat that big.

Pretty boat.
The 650HP, 12V71TIs (NOT 12V71TAs as per the ad) over 4500 hours needs a thought.
Rebuilt when or original hours.
These will need to be surveyed very well including cylinder inspections.
4500 hours is not bad for well pampered engines, but where caution should be applied.
Doable but rebuilding labor cost just doubled for in frame rebuilding in those engine rooms.

Recommendation for engine surveyor?

Update;
With the TD clutches, factory HP was 650.
With ZF clutches, this puppy may have the 725HP engines.

I recall Mr Clarkson had these taller engines in his fine ship.

I'm away from my desk so can not pull up the exact specs.

I'm not familiar with the DDC shops in this area.
I know shops have been recommended before in that area before on HOF.

This is a nice looking boat for the $$.

For a surveyor, contact Dave Hinkel, Marine Diesel One. 941-251-3511. If he has time, you won't find a better DD mechanic / surveyor.

Beautiful boat that I have admired on the water for years.

For survey, I recommend Steve Kambrick on the Bradenton side of the Skyway Bridge.

He surveyed my 1985 62 CPMY (54my with ext) in 2011. His survey was thorough and gave me confidence in the work that extended my boat. His boroscope findings reduced the purchase price significantly. I hired him to perform routine maintenance on the boat for years until he passed that work to a friend. Nothing has ever gone wrong with the boat that could have been discovered with a survey. So, thorough work, reduced price, and no surprises made for a great surveyor experience.

Anclote Diesel Specialists, Wayne Hannaseck, 727-460-9796 has been around a long time and I have always had very good results with him. He knows Detroits.
