Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
During very heavy rains I'm getting water collecting at the bottom of the steps down to the aft stateroom. Anyone have an idea of the route it may be taking? There's no water in the bilge directly forward of that, and doesn't appear to be any in the actual stateroom itself.

Maybe the aft stateroom air handler is working to remove condensate during AC cooling and the drain pan is plugged up?

When the condensate drain in my aft stateroom air handler plugged up, that’s exactly where the puddle formed.

Mine was getting wet carpet around the port closet at the base of the stairs. It turned out to be leaking in around stanchion bases directly above.

Definitely rain water, not AC condensate, although I've had that happen before too. I'll check stanchion base leaks tomorrow, although I thought they were mounted with threaded inserts glassed into the deck.

Rainwater definitely will leak in around these screws. Pull them and shoot some caulk into the holes an reinsert them. Also I found a couple of stripped ones that would not tighten down the caulk will temporarily stop the water until full repair can be made.
