Hatteras Model
43' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1978 - 1983)
My daughter and son in law are looking at a 79 37C. Any input on this model would be appreciated. 6-71 TIB engines. I'm presuming that this boat predates any hull coring concerns.

Is there an ad listing?
I am a big fan of the 6-71 TIBs.
Can you state DDC, Covington, SS , JT??

No. Private unadvertised sale.

O K, Private sale. What color are the engines? What clutches?

White. Reman 450 HP with Capital gears.

Bomb Proof.
Check service records and cold and hot oil labs.
That engine in TIB tune is my fave.
Covington H/Es were a pain to get to and service. Also copper and steel tubing easily replaced with glass tubes and hose.
JT did not mix steel with copper tubes. Mostly all copper and hose. Better H/E mounted forward like Detroits.
Belive it or knot, Detroit offered the TIB in pancake config. What a monster to work on. I still luved it.

Gen-sets are disposable,,,, unless your cheap like me.
Original Oh-No is reef material.

The rest of the Hatt others know better than I,, Just mostly Hatt bomb Proof.

Location? Maybe a member can check it out?

It's local. Looks good to me. Northern Lights Genny.

I just want to be sure there's no coring belie the waterline. They only made the 37 for a few years apparently.

Let the experts pile on. I do believe Hatteras never cored below the water line.

Bob, check out the article under the model brochures. According to that, the hull is solid glass and decks and house are fiberglass sandwich. So I don't think theres any coring below the WL. Can also get the hull id and call CD Piner at hatt. The build info might still be available.

AFAIK, the only Hatteras that was cored below the waterline was the second 41 convertible. And Hatteras stopped doing that fairly early on after they ran into problems with the cored hull. I don't think they ever did it again.

The '79 37 is a nice boat- roomy. Not the fastest thing they ever built, it will not run like your Series 2 45C, but they are still nice boats.

Turns out the engines are TI, not TIB.

450 & 485 HPs I thought were TIBs. Mostly the same engine, SAE flywheel HP or Propshaft HP.

A lot of my notes were lost a while back on an ole XP box crash.
If you are sure, then my memory and thoughts were just greatly corrected.
Can you send some pictures?
Trying to build up another DDC folder.

I'm not enrolled in that BD web site any more.

I don't know. That's what they are telling me.

My last boat was an 82 Viking with 671 TI's 420hp. I did a minor overhall at 2100 hours when I purchased the boat and had 10years of trouble free use. They are great engines.
