  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1984 - 1992)
For someone looking for an inexpensive Diesel Powered Deep V 30 Ft fishing boat this doesn't seem like that bad of a deal. Lets assume you could buy it for $10,000, I'd think the motors if in good running condition could be worth that. Am I off base or does this seem to be a fair deal. Any thoughts?

She looks rough but if she's solid and the engines are good, that's a great boat with tons of potential. It's a heavy boat with great sea keeping. It's a Ray Hunt design so a very deep V. Great head sea boat.

The motors alone, if running properly are worth $20,000

That's what I thought, seems like a nice ride for $10K +/-. It needs some work, but if the bones are straight it would be a nice little cruising/fishing rig. Jack, I've never been on one but have also heard great things about the sea Keeping ability and ride of that hull. If I had the time to clean it up and give it a nice paint job I would consider buying it to fish on Lake Erie. I've been thinking of something that is occasionally trailerable to keep on the lake a couple months and on the 3 Rivers in Pittsburgh a few months then store in my yard in the winter. I know it's not exactly a daily trailerable boat but it's definitely possible to move around a few times a year and store on a trailer.

12' beam, that deep V and good sized running gear would make trailering this boat a chore.
The yachtworld listing looks rough. I like the Sopranos décor.

This one is nicer and in the long run even cheaper.

and one closer to home. It's a gasser but she's a freshwater boat and does look clean.

The problem I see here is the engines where probably taken care of like the boat. That being said if the boat was in N.J. I would buy it take the engines out rebuild them. Then put them in my 36 Hatteras upping my hp from 235hp to 270hp. Then hope I could give the rest away and don't forget that ice maker. That all being said it's in FLA and not going to happen.

That's a lot of work for 35 hp. If they were 330 or 370 I'd see it better.

10k? if it runs and gets on plane, why not?

i know of a 43 wood egg harbor with 903 cummins in running condition for $5000.00 would make a good floating condo

I agree it's a lot of work for 35hp but I just dropped my volvo off for a complete rebuild. Seems like something's not right when labor is 30% of cost rebuild and parts 70%. I think volvo makes great motors if they could keep the parts in check maybe they sell more in the US.
