  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
48' LRC (1976 - 1981)
I am replacing the original tender crane on our 48 LRC with a new Steel Head four function unit. The original unit is in very good shape, but definitely not new. I have attached pictures to give an idea of what I am offering for sale. During the past 3 of 4 years the winch has been serviced, a halogen light added (matching Imron finish), new ss cable, etc. The unit works exactly as it should and has had no failures during my 7 years of ownership. The standpipe is just over 7 feet tall. A white year old Sunbrella winch cover is included.

The crane is located in New Bern, NC and its size and weight dictate a local pickup. It would have to ship by truck, read as expensive. I am asking $1500 for the complete unit, FOB my garage. Three pictures are attached and three more will follow in another post.

If it is already sold I have the same pipewelders crane for sale that came off my 48 YF and was mounted along side the salon roof.

Crane is still available and in my garage in New Bern. I am in Norfolk and will be returning to New Bern about August 10. Let me know if you are still interested, with this info. Sorry for the delayed response. Been using my boat.

I will say the weldments look quite nice!

Is it is in the working condition? What about the price? Why you want to replace it?

The crane is definitely in working condition. Has no problems or even hints of operational problems. Assume the question on price is taking less than $1500. My price remains $1500 FOB. With new units of similar construction and capability priced north of $7K, this one looks like a real bargain to me, and hopefully to someone else. So why did I decide to remove it and install a $20K replacement. Has to do with the specifics of my boat. On the 48 LRC, the crane is mounted on the boat deck, in the aft/port corner, with a stand pipe down to the cockpit deck just aft of the salon/cockpit bulkhead. My tender with 40 HP Honda comes in just over 800 lbs. You launch the tender and it is lowered off the port side as the 48 LRC list a few degrees to port. All has gone well and the tender is launched. The 48 LRC returns to its trim condition as the tender floats. So what is the problem? Answer is the return trip! First the rotation to launch and retrieve the tender is aft, over the swim platform, to directly off the port side. So, I lift the tender and the 48 LRC list to port again. Now to rotate it aft over the swim platform back on the chocks. Good luck! You are trying to pull the tender uphill and have a zero degree angle to use a line on tip of the crane arm. You are standing directly behind it and have no opportunity to stand aft of it to improve your angle. So, I decided enough of this nonsense and spent $20K to get a unit with a hydraulic rotate function. Now I no longer have this problem or $20K to invest in another toy. Hope this helps.

I'm interested. What is the OD of the standpipe? Just wondering if your crane would fit the standpipe I already have.

Apology for the delayed response. Holiday season and having our boat painted has kept me more than busy.

John, yes the crane is still for sale and still stored in my garage in the same condition as when it was removed from the boat this past Spring.

Duke, the OD of the standpipe is 4", the ID is 3.5". The standpipe when installed on my boat was under the cockpit overhang and was well protected. The original anodizing is in excellent condition.

We are located about 5 miles down river from New Bern, NC and will be here until around the end of April when we will go north for the summer, returning about mid August.

Can you provide a telephone number?

The crane is sold. It found a new home on a 48 Hatt YF.
