Can the flybridge on a 1976 53 MY be permanently removed? It is the original style flybridge (helm forward with two side benches). Not looking for step by step instructions, just feasibility.

Thanks,

Jim

Off permanently; Yes

I have been dreaming of permanently removing my fly-bridge for a while myself.
Less weight over all.
Less weight overhead, less beam roll.
Less maintenance.
I think it looks better.

Keep us up on your adventure.

This is my first boat with a fly bridge. I cruise from up top 99% of the time. I know they can be removed but I’d look at the resale value before committing to removing. Good luck. 🍀

You will end up with some pretty big holes to fill!!!

We have discussed this before. I have seen one 53 without a fly bridge , and it looked great . But unless it’s pouring rain, I run the boat from the fly bridge. And it’s a great place to hang out in the evening . Resale is something to consider . I think it would hurt a 53 a lot more than a 43 .

Yes you can, not a huge job but the FB is really nice, gives extra space on the boat.
