  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
I am changing the antifreeze and put 10 gal in each before I ran out. How much do these beasts hold?

Not sure about those big boys, but my 8V71ti's took almost 13 gal EACH!

I've got 12s and if I remember corectly it took 24 gallons

Brian

One more thing, your refill amount will vary depending on the percentage of coolant that you were able to drain out. If you used the elbow and the oil cooler drain locations you got most of it (85-90%?) but you can get the rest by draining the block (four block drains on 8V71ti).

Hope this helps.

Anyone have the DD manual for the 12v71 series? I have a V71 but it appesars to be for highway vehicles only as the 12 cyl in it is rated at 852 hp

Ordered mine today.....

Stock hp is 650 for the TI
Mine has 825 hp
Luckydave has 900+hp

oh and the 12v71 holds about 20 gal of coolant ;)

As in distilled water and nalcool? No reason for ethylene glycol in Ft Pierce.

we went with Fleet Charge Red as that is what the surveyor suggested.....

The 12v71's hold about 20 gals of coolant.

I would put in 10 gals of straight anitfreeze and top top it off with water (10 gals water)(each engine)

Pat

I'd alternate a gallon of AF with a gallon of distilled water until full. Don't want any pockets of water if you are in freezing temps. If you change coolant in the slip just before haulout, this is especially important as the thermostat may not open when running no-load.
