    Recent Info about Dinner Key

Does anyone have any current info on Dinner Key Marina. I know Pascal is a denizen and I did pm him but no reply. I just wanted to know whether it is again completely operational with all slips repaired. Secondly, is the waiting list beyond the pale? We were there for 2 years and are considering...

    Jupiter/ Stuart Area Broker

Do any of the HOF denizens have a recommendation for an involved and motivated broker/agent to represent a motivated seller? What I have in mind is someone who has a network in which to communicate " Here's a decent vintage boat that will give someone a lot of pleasure and is a GREAT deal!" In...

    River Forest LaBelle

Is anyone from this forum secured at the west side RFYC? Just wondering how the facility fared. Our boat "Bugsy" is a 43C on the hard and WAS on stands near the lift just beside the work area. Any advice as to status would be greatly appreciated.

    KVH Bahamas Question

Last year on a sojourn to the Exumas, I received my Miami local channels in Nassau. This time, we're planning on the Abacos. I am thinking I should perhaps change my "location" to West Palm instead of Miami to enhance the likelihood of receiving DirectTv locals. Does anybody have any knowledge/...

    Engine flush. Help!!!

DD6V92...... I decided to follow advice from the forum and do my own engine flush with Barnacle Buster. I put 3 diluted gallons into the 5 gallon pail. I connected "input" to the zinc fitting on the bottom of the transmission cooler after closing the seacock. I connected the discharge to the...

    Cooling System Pressure

Detroits 6v92 TA..... On the port engine, when I remove the HE zincs, there is a relesse of pressure....and some water. That does not happen on the stbd. side. Why? The zinc wears much more quickly on the port side presumably because it is immersed.

    Urgent! Whinging Noise

I had cutlass bearings replaced and running gear painted. No other changes. Launched and heard high pitched whinging noise on the starboard. Nothing in reverse. Nothing port side. Pitch increases with increased rpm. Is this shaft against bearing and what is worst case if anyone knows. Thanks.

    Surveyor---Sarasota/Bradenton

Any recommendations for a surveyor in the Bradenton area? I'm having some re-coring done; blister repair and glass work and would like to have a qualified "independent eye". Also need an insurance survey for renewal. Thanks.

    Captain Needed

I need a captain to run a 3500 Tiara on Tuesday, Nov. 25th in Ft.Lauderdale in the morning and I'm not having much luck getting one. Everyone I've called is "otherwise occupied". Does anyone here have any contacts? Thanks.

    Ft.Lauderdale Dockage

    Baltimore Storage?

I am planning a trip south in two stages. The last time, I stayed outside to Norfolk and interrupted the journey by storing the boat at Great Falls. However, I then had to fly from Norfolk to Baltimore to catch a flight to Toronto. This time, I thought I'd go up the Delaware Bay to the C&D...

    Transformer Bypass

I am at a marina with 208 V on the 50 amp shorepower. My boat is a 1981 Conv. with a transformer. It was suggested by the dockmaster that some Hatteras boats have a switch to enable you to bypass the transformer and take the "raw" power from the dock. I would avoid or minimize the negative...

    Dirty After-cooler

This is just a general note that may help others in the future. I had a long-standing "issue" with lower WOT RPM's on my 6V92 TA stbd. engine than on the port. Various solutions were proposed and tried without success over a period of years. I also noted that the stbd. fuel burn was higher than...

    older heart inverter question

Everything was fine in May. She then went into summer storage. The fridge is on inverter. So also are 3 electrical outlets on the stbd. The fridge works fine but those 3 outlets are dead. Other outlets on the same side NOT through the inverter are fine. I have tried reset. Nothing. Any...

    Change shift cables

I've read through some of the older threads and posts and replacing shift cables is a job others have undertaken themselves. I have a 43C with 6V92's and "Steve" at Sam's has advised that I require a 24 ft. and a 28 ft. cable. Now----does anybody have a ballpark estimate on the time actually...

    Making Oil---Pt.ll

I very much appreciated all of the feedback and all I can say is that I sniffed the stick...and detected no odor!! I received the oil analysis today and admit I'm no wiser. The "comments" were limited to "possible minor fuel dilution" and an abnormally high sodium content (179) attributed to...

    Making Oil---6V92 TA

I earlier posted a question about the extent of work required to the engines following a coolant leak into the lubricating system. In the result, I had the heads tested and re-conditioned (new valves and springs)and complete new cylinder kits installed. We ran the boat----no apparent issues...

    How much is enough?

In 2005 I overheated the port engine--450 hp 6v92--shutting down immediately upon hearing the alarm. No issues since cleaning the exchanger. About 500 hours later, I discover water in the oil. The mech tore down the engine and found both o-rings on the #2 cylinder had failed both in the same...
