I remember seeing on the forum here a substitute for the stuff West Marine sells - No Damp
But I'll be darned if I can remember what it is or find in the search engine here.
If memory serves, wasn't a non-salt product that was used for melting ice in the driveway but could be also used in a...
Was wondering if closing the sea cocks and pumping antifreeze through the 1/2 inch drain plug at the end of the sea strainers would get the job done same as removing the 3" raw water hose and sticking it a 5 gal bucket with the engine running?
My guess is if antifreeze comes out the exhaust it...
Changed marinas this past season and just found out I can't get into the buildings here (to tall)
That being said, I'm going to have to be outside (it's going to be a long winter...) and have to go the shrink wrap route.
Any tips, tricks or what NOT to do with shrink wrap would be very much...
Hello all, been a while;
I replaced throttle cables on lower/upper stations with Teleflex TFXtreme and I'm having a terrible time getting them adjusted. The two problems I'm having are lever position mismatch both at idle/wot and there is play in the lever before engines come off idle (seems to...
I've recently added digital tachs (Aetna) and after checking with a photo tach I feel comfortable with the accuracy.
Running the boat today to where it's being pulled out for winter I ran WOT for 5 minutes. Per CPL (vt903-M1 Cummins) max rpm is 2800.
Results:
Starboard = 2815
Port = 2793

I wanted to start a new thread to stay on point.
Ok, here is the deal;
The electrical goodies I spoke of are in a box on top of the unit that houses a printed circut board, diodes and such. Wires from that box run to yet another box where the high tension wires a hooked to a block then run to a...
Well, the @$#%!* generator is acting up again. I posted a while back on voltage fluctuation and thought I figured out the problem. It turns out the problem is back and I'm being told the control box with lots of wiz-bang electrical goodies needs replacing. If they can find one for a MDJE series...
I'm having a bit of trouble understanding what Cummins is recommending for operating RPM on my VT-903-M1. Note my CPL plate states advertised HP is 340
I can't scan / transfer from my Marine Operations Manual to a readable document so I'll type it in for view...
How does one go about removing what appears to be 3/4 marine plywood from the salon floor (once all the hatches are opened/out of the way).
I noticed what appears to be nail heads in line spaced every few inches running longways(at least from my vantage point) like sub floors in a house that...
Jim,
Thanks for the point to Panish controls. I spoke with Rob on very stiff throttle controls and after some questions / answers, Rob determined I did not need to replace my Morse controls but instead use 2 balancing units with their cables. It refreshing to deal with knowledgeable honest...
Oil pressure gauge problem
I'm at my witts end. Flybridge starboard oil pressure gauge pegs when I plug in the sender wire and causes the main helm gauge to peg as well. When I disconnect the FB gauge the helm reads correct and the reverse, FB plugged in and main helm disconnected, FB reads...
I can honestly state the product DieselKleen is top shelf. (hope captain pascal doesn't zap me here)
Picked up info on this product thru the forum from Karl's(Genesis) posts and after running 500+ gallons thru the boat I've yet to have to clean the transom from soot. Now I'm no engineer nor...

2HE 10700

If you would like a copy PM me.
Here is an update to the news item I posted earlier in the week.
http://www.samsmarine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4031
I'm posting this because:
1) I originally put it out there and felt it was my obligation to find more info and update all of you and
2) I feel it does pertain to us as a...
Well folks it's about that time of year to start the process of pulling the boat for the season. You lucky sun belt captains may wish to move on to the next topic but all opinions are most welcomed.
I'm looking for the pros and cons of storing in heated -vs- outside. Price or availability is...
I'm one of those odd-balls who has the vhf on all the time and heard the call when it came in.
For those who pilot a boat and drink-

Good day to all,
Can someone explain to me what hull speed is and its application? I see this term used a lot here on the forum. When I google for hull speed I basically get calculators to tell me what my maximum hull speed based on LWL but no explaination on what hull speed is.
Thanks.
