    Delivery captain responsibility

I would like to know how much liability a delivery captain has. Aside from obvious neglect or unreasonable carelessness. If damage occurs to to the transport vessel or another vessel?

    Wood helm cover

My 50 year old boat has had many switches and accessories added and deleted. I decided to simplify it with an overlay of wood. Now only ignition switches on the front. The radio and chart plotter stow inside the drawers at each end.

    Solar panels

I am planning on installing a couple of solar panels 100 watt each. I would only want them feeding the house bank (2 8Ds) when no shore power or generator. If I put a battery cut off switch between the controller and the batteries would that work ?

    Eliminating toilet circuit boards

Both toilets on my boat came with electronic circuitry to trigger the fill/ flush cycle. A Jabsco and a Vetus brand. The Jabsco failed after a year and the Vetus lasted about 4 yrs Instead of shelling out several hundred $$ for replacement switches, I was able to connect an “on off on” rocker...

    Size matters

New neighbors with a 45 Carver aft cabin docked next to my 43DC. Hatteras is much bigger, including the aft deck. It does have me beat by 3 ft. On the swim platform. 😎

    Aft deck windows

Starting on a post storm project. The sliding windows on the aft deck of my 43DCMY had a couple of cracked windows and some rot in the wood frames. Well, a strong gust from Ian removed 2 of them from the port side. So, I am rebuilding from scratch. I decided to make new sliders out of aluminum...

    Weird AC experience

My boat has 2 self contained AC units. Each has its own thru hulk, strainer and pump. After a day trip, anchored for several hours then returning home at hull speed. Turned on the ACs and neither would pump water. Troubleshooting revealed air lock or lost prime. Cracking open the hoses at the...

    Beating the heat

I had this sunbrella panel sewed up . It does a good job shading the salon window. It is easy to step past, and I can still see outside. Capt. Rob

    New location for AC

A few years ago I replaced the original air handler in my salon with a package unit. It worked fine but was kinda loud . So, I am moving it to a new location in the V berth under the starboard bunk. I routed the ductwork along the starboard side under the galley counter, and thru the area where...

    AC troubleshooting

Neighbors Carver has 5 package ACs. All will turn on but, none will trigger the single Orbrdorfer pump. There is a terminal box/ circut board next to the pump with all incoming wires and the output to the pump. Suggestions on troubleshooting ?

    Plexiglass aft enclosure

After installing clear plexiglass from the railing dow. I am now making removable panels to enclose the upper half. The view is much better than isenglass and the costs to me is in the hundreds$ Instead of thousands$. The panels ( 6 of them) also are easy to stow alongside the weather boards...

    Fireplaces on a boat

We are very happy with this addition. Just in time for the chilly Fla. winter. Also added clear plexiglass panels to the aft deck for a greatly improved view. Lastly, installed some much needed stair lights.

    Adding 3rd 30 amp service

I am in the process of enclosing the aft deck so it can be air conditioned. It will only be used while at the dock. The current AC inlet powers 2 self contained (16K ,9K) units. Pedestal setup is 50 splitter into 2 30amp and it has an unused 30 amp socket. Can I just run a separate 30amp cord...

    New deck furniture

Current project is remodeling aft deck. New furniture and doing a weathertight enclosure. View is so nice with the weather boards removed, I am considering using clear acrylic across the back from the rail down. What do you guys think ? Capt. Rob

    Wood flooring

Started the project to replace salon carpeting with real wood. I have been researching and debating the various options available after reading many posts here and online. Ideally a traditional teak and holly was my favorite, but plywood and synthetics did not appeal. So, I went with an oak...

I removed this from my 1971 43DC. Custom made fiberglass. It would need to be glassed and repainted to hold whatever electronics you have. Located central Fl gulf coast. Best offer, Capt. Rob 727 534 7530

    How low are you

Just checking to see where your 43DC 's sit in the water. Mine sits with the exhaust pipes above the water. The painted waterline is about 3 inches above the actual waterline at rest. I assume this is a result of it having been repowered with 4 stroke Volvo's that are much lighter than the...
