Shutdown button got short circuited. Cannot find fuse

Thank you kindly for the comments. Much appreciated..The inline fuses seem to be OK, I opened the DCV box near the engine and found a 20A ceramic glass-type fuse with Shutdown under it.. cannot tell if it's blown.. the Start fuse next to it looks just the same. I will order a new one regardless...

Shutdown button got short circuited. Cannot find fuse

Hello, I did a newbie mistake today. I was under the PH helm cleaning and adjusting the cables. I was trying to fix the symptom where the throttle arm will move up and accelerate but sags right back down almost immediately. Byt that's anotber issue. In the process the tip of a cable got away...

    Windshield wiper blade inserts

Thank you all very much. I found a complete setup (which I needed as it was not keeping the blade down tight on the windshield) at Sam's but I purchased the inserts from NAPA as I needed them within a day. Blain

    Windshield wiper blade inserts

I looked extensively for an exact match to get new wiper blade inserts for my 53. They are 22" long. I found a few that may work but would need torcing them in the thin top channel but was hoping for a near match. Would really appreciate comments and a source. Blain

    Silly question about throttle controls.

Here is a bit of an update and a question, if I may. I ordered 10 cables, 8 for the controls, one X drive for the synchronizer and one push pull between synch and SB throttle. I had a feeling the the SB push pull cable was the culprit for the SB stiffness more than the throttle cables...

Does the GM windlass draw power from both 32V engine battery banks?

Thank you all for the comments, I understand the logic. In my previous vessel, the windlass was a 12V maxwell. I noticed that it struggled at times especially when I installed a heavier anchor, despite properly adjusting the clutch and such. Which made me nervous for sure. The anchor was well...

Location of Transmission screen Allison M20?

Back for an update. I used the heat gun on and off for 4 min which did help. Then I inserted a dash removal tool and tapped on it gently.. finally it gave way. I could not see any gunk but the gasket was heavily adhered to it. It took a bit to clean the gasket off and prepare a good surface for...

Location of Transmission screen Allison M20?

Thank you very much Brain for the link. That was very helpful. After seeing the diagram, I have been hard at trying to scrape off bits of the gasket from under the edges of the washer/screen. Unfortunately, the screen is stuck solid. I tried prying it gently with a thin instrument flat head...

Location of Transmission screen Allison M20?

As a follow up, I started the project of cleaning the Transmission screens today, 1/2" sockets to remove 3 bolts then pull the outlet hose up, the screen is attached to it..it's a tubular structure about 4" long and 1.25" diameter. This is my first time doing this cleaning. Actually it was not...

Does the GM windlass draw power from both 32V engine battery banks?

Since the windlass is drawing power from at least one bank of engine batteries, I would like to install a shunt to key an eye on the voltage and amps drawn to avoid burning the newly reconditioning GM windlass motor. Although a 1000amp victory shunt monitor is overkill but the starter draw will...

    Silly question about throttle controls.

Thank you very much Bill, Sky and Bob, Each one of input was needed and great. Bill, your description on how to detach the cables made things so much easier. I ordering a new set, it took a bit to get the lengths from the numbers on the old cables. As far as I can tell for the 53', I have 1x...

    Silly question about throttle controls.

I know this will sound silly but in our previous boats we can move the throttle controls without the engine running or a key inserted. The throttle controls on this new to me Hatteras cannot be moved. They are known to be stiff from the survey but these feel like the levers are mechanically...

Zincs are immovable and confirm location, please

I know there are 2 zincs on the heat exchanger, the manual says there are zincs at the raw water pump.. I just cannot locate that zinc. Also, are there other zincs on the V71. I am used to zincs at the tranny cooler but I cannot find such a zincs. Someone painted the Zincs at the HE with a good...

Trying to reset Air Cutoff. Help please

I am going through the manual where it discusses the Air Cutoff. I have 2 T-handles at the Pilot house about knee high that when pulled I believe they shutoff air to the engines and stop it running. I tested them last week to ensure free movement but I cannot find in the manual if there is a...

Location of Transmission screen Allison M20?

I am changing the oil in my Allison M20 Transmission x2. Manuals says to check yne breather and clean the screen. Pulled off the breather..it looked fine but I am unsure of the location of the screen. There is a cyclinder-like structure on the opposite side of the tranny dipstick with a 1" hose...

Good morning,Newbie here, recently acquired a 1983 53’ from a friend last December.
