    Purisan Installation

I am planning on installing a Purisan unit in the near future. My question for the great hatteras minds, is this. Should the output be routed through the existing bronze thru-hull below water line or a plastic thru-hull above the water line? My fear is, if the chlorine dissolved the bronze, I...

Hey to the Hatteras Folks. I have a 1988, 40DCMY, 5.9, 300 HP Cummins. I am pretty sure that my engine water intakes are 2". I just hired a dive to clean the bottom. He told me the intake starboard scoop was loose in the front and attached in the rear. On the starboard side, I have 3...

    1988 Paint Question

What brand on paint was used in 1988, and is the non-skid the same paint with an additive or is it "non-skid paint". I'm getting ready to re-paint the non-skid surfaces and gleaning information. I have repaired gel coat boats and used acetone, for cleaning and prep, but not sure on a Hatteras.

    AC/DC Fridge Reccomendations

The old original Norcold has bit the bullet in our 1988 DCMY 40. I think I want to stay original to size and layout of the galley. Most of the current Norcold reviews are terrible. Nova Kool, Vitrifrigo, and Isotherm all make replacements that will fit the cut out. Vitrifrigo comes highly...

    Rudder Gland Questions:

I have a DCMY 40, 1988 model. The starboard rudder gland is leaking underway. It did this about seven years a go. I tightened the gland and stopped the leak. How many times can the gland be tightened before repacking is required. What is the guideline for knowing tighten or repack? Does...

    Cummins Lift Pump

I just recently replaced a lift pump on a Cummins 6BT5.9. I know that these engines have 60-80 lbs. oil pressure and when I removed the broken pump only a few drops of fuel ran out. My question for the experts is this; should I be concerned with diesel in the crankcase? Thanks for knowledge...
