    Hopefully no one we know?

Adrift and no one aboard. Not the best circumstances. https://winknews.com/2024/04/03/53-foot-boat-goes-adrift-floating-into-u-s-41-bridge-in-punta-gorda/

Any ideas which version this is?

Parked nearby we have this oldy. I think it is larger than a 58' yacht fish but I could not locate it in the power boat guide I have from 1999.

Recent Detailed Photos of Dorian Damage

This link is a map/photo combination that allows one to visually explore many areas of the Abacos. For example, one can move the map portion over Sea Spray / White Sound on Elbow cay and peruse many detailed photos. Seeing more detail of what happened at Sea Spray has been heart breaking. And...

Abacos going the way of Nassau

While we were never really concerned, two events have occured. Spanish Cay was robbed at gunpoint and there is a reward. Also, Hope Town experienced an armed robbery as well. http://www.thebahamasweekly.com/publish/police-reports/Armed_Robbery_Spanish_Cay_Abaco58266.shtml...

    Ft. Myers Boat Show

Went to the show today. Ten bucks admission not bad. Plenty of CC mfgs in the show and a number of good boating related vendors. The ticket stub had a drink bogo at several places down town so we went to "The Lodge" for a brew and deep fried pickles. Not bad, good show.

Ya can't go anywhere any more without .. .

We're motoring along at about 8k on the inside of Captiva and someone gets on 16 calling Dan Mapes..... Dan Mapes.... So I answer, and sure enough, it's Greg on the Elly Rose. I'm going to have to drag the dink when I get it fixed so the boat names shows. I would have bought a round at...

Wilbert's is gone what are people using?

We used Wilbert's dry finish to clean up the interior wood work but they have ceased production. Does anyone have a good replacement that does not leave an oily residue? We have tried Old English but it leaves a film and it stains just about everything it comes in contact with.

    Transom Davit Maintenance

We've had Freedom since '99 and we are pretty confident that the transom davit was installed a few years prior. I was never really thrilled with the installation job but over all the transom davit was the best solution for us. Anyway, we bought a heavier dink and due to some flex in the...

    Rebedding Forward Window Panels

So we have an '85 M/Y and it is time to pop the center window out again and exchange the refrigerator. I have seen a few other threads that recommend Sikaflex, and I am fine with that, but what I am curious about is how was this done originally? As I recall there was a black "felt like"...

    Davit cable tension

It would be easy to assume what the tension is providing the lift is straight up. However with these transom davits, we have a winch pulling up on an angle, and hinge points that make it all more complicated. I swagged some of this and if the dink is 800 lbs, it could be as much as 1400 lbs...

Please see the ?HELP forum in Everthing Else

I found an issue with the site that was caused by enforcement of some spec. somewhere in code land. I tested the recommendation and it seems to work just fine. I know this could take a while but if you are paying someone to support the code, they should be able to flip this pretty quick...

    Racor Filter Maintenance

We have had a discussion or two here and perhaps elsewhere about Racors and the use of 2 micron filters. Ever since we bought Freedom back in 1999 I have used 2 micron filters. Once after shocking the tank with BioBor prior to lay up, in the Spring, we floated her and wound 'em up. She made 1000...

    Bow Pulpit removal 43 M/Y

Has anyone pulled the pulpit off and how did it go? The rub rail was easy enough but the anchor roller is stuck down to the pulpit really well. It appears the bow rail is one piece and easily detached from the pulpit but I am not sure I want to leave it hanging so it may come off completely...

    Pulpit rebuild and support

So I have this other thread going with the core replacement. I was wondering if folks had their pulpits removed and then, what they used to replace the plywood under the pulpit between the deck and pulpit. Has anyone used foam? Coosa? Or is this one of those lay down the plywood soaked in epoxy...

    Who's in for Cuba?

I cannot wait. This is going to be HUGE for boaters in the U.S. as well as marina operators in Cuba.

    Galley Maid Windlass removal

Edit: This is an on going project that aims to repair balsa core rot under the pulpit. We've been to this well many times here, and the question I have is simple. It is a model BBHH-12-5-1/4 that all of a sudden turned into a rust ball. I have a feeling this is due to all of the rough water we...

Robertson Auto Pilot Heading divides course by 10!

Really odd. A couple of days ago, I was running at around 332 degrees and flipped into Auto so it would follow the heading. It loaded up 33.2 as the course to steer and performed a hard turn. Any ideers besides by a new unit? Today I will be wiggling connectors etc. before we go out later on...

Funky Muffler; Where did Hat get this??

So we've had Freedom since '99 and all along I thought the muffler was not doing a good job. But hey, it's a Hatteras so it must be me right? Over the years I have swapped out impellers, boiled out the exchanger and made sure there were no blockages. The generator which is an Onan 8KW MDKD has...

    Dinghy Bottom treatments

So we are getting a new dink and we will be towing it. It's too much for the davit we have and no way we are going to install a new one. In fact, this one may go up for sale at some point. The dealer does not like bottom paint at all, and discourages the use. Are there any thoughts or...
