After 20 years in boating and 12 years with "Family Tides" it's time I passed her on to another captain to finish the repairs. She has been a wonderful summer live aboard but my time and energy needs to be devoted to a new adventure.
She is currently winterized and out of the water in Waretown...

Unfortunately I have to replace my starboard engine and it has to be removed. I have a new block and crank but I'm looking for anyone who had has to do this on a 1969 or similar twin cabin.
Can it be stripped and fit through a window or up the stairs to the aft deck? I hope I don't have to...
When folded this table occupies a small space ideal for boats like ours. The set is in good condition with some minimal wear consistent with age and use. The middle chair storage area holds all four folding chairs and features a roll top door for access, the other side features a handy and...
If you know someone who might be repowering I am in search of a good rebuildable 8-53 Detroit Diesel engine. I am located in NJ but will travel a reasonable distance.
Any help would be appreciated.
Does anyone know the name of a surveyor in NJ who will survey my 1969 Hatteras. Seems like no-one wants to survey these old classics. I have a potential buyer be he can't get insurance with out the survey. These young surveyors don't even want to step on an old boat. Any names would be...
Does anyone know of another insurance company who will insure older (1969) boats and do they all require a survey. Mine is coming up for renewal and after having Geico/Boatus for the past 10 years they are asking for an insurance survey before renewal. I was quoted 1400.00 for the survey on my...
I checked the dip stick on my freshly rebuilt port engine and it looks like it was just changed and not run at all.
The boat has about 4 hours on the rebuild 8-53 Detroit but I always thought the diesel oil turned black right away. I'm I wrong or do I need to put a lot more hours on it?
I just launched for the season and saw some oil sheen coming from each of my exhaust upon start up, I checked before launch and oil levels were good and my oil pressure was 40 at 1000 rpm and temps were 180 on each engine. I have 8 53 Detroit's naturally to asperated. Once docked and engines...
This sweet little hand made cabinet mirrored (11X12X4) came off a late 1960's MY. I thought I might use it but it turns out after moving it around my shop for the last 6 years I've decided to let it go. Anyone want it for $20 plus shipping
The back half of my fiberglass hard top has sagged quite a bit through the years (a picture of the 69 twin cabin shows the half top) The front half is fine since it's supported and attached to the windows.
There are two stanchions on a angle on each side of the hard top attached to the helm but...
