    New Isenglass Aft Deck Enclosure

We are getting ready to replace the Isenglass enclosure on our aft deck. i am thinking of using 30 mil Strataglass rather than 40 mil. The thinking is that here in Florida, we roll them up a lot and from my research, 30 mil was as durable as 40 mil, but rolled more easily. 40 mil tended to lay...

    Rudders

While working on the boat in the yard, I noticed that the rudders require 2 full turns from center to STBD, and 3 full turns from center to PORT. 5 full turns total, lock to lock. I suspect this asymmetric ratio is normal?

    30A Service

Remember when we were talking about 30A service and how we didn't need it? Well, in the yard that is all they have, and so I bought a single 50ft 30A cord, cause my chargers are only on one side. Anyways, it plugged into the yard outlet ok, but what I thought were 30A/125v outlets on the boat...

    AC Compressor Stopped

When we turn on the forward salon AC, everything works normal (pump, fan) but the compressor is not turning on. After troubleshooting, I don't even think it is getting power (no humm, nothing). After researching the site, this would indicate a bad TRIAC, but where exactly is it? It is AC unit...

    Trim Tab

One of my trim tabs broke (in half). The hinge broke on one side and hydrodynamics did the rest. They are fiberglass and shaped to match the boat. I guess I need to make a mold and make a new one?

    Dumb Question

If you are paying a monthly diver, what is the point of bottom paint?

    Passing Another Yacht

What is the proper technique in passing another boat? Something big and slow like ours. I radioed and gave my intention to pass on their starboard and the captain replied back that was ok and he would slow down for a slow pass, and then I passed. The part that I probably need help on is that...

    Halifax Harbor Marina

We are on a short cruise vacation, and just wanted to give a shout out to Hilifax Harbor Marina (Daytona) Well protected, floating docks, super nice helpers. Last time we came through this way we stayed at new Smyrna, which was ok for a night, but this one is good for short or long stay.

Micron 66 or Pettit Ultra 60

I went with Pettit Utima 60 last time, lasted 2 years. River is horrendous. I also think the previous diver had something to do with it as well. Will Micron 66 do better?

    Air Tank

I have a functioning compressor and tank and I wanted to connect an air hose to it to use air for other things. I think all I need is a regulator, but where would install it? Where the pressure gauge is? Here is a picture of it. On one end is a pressure gauge and on the other is what looks like...

    Hand Rails

Seven made me finally deal with my hand rails. To be honest, they were low on my list, till I saw how well his came out, so I finally bit the bullet and hired my next door boat neighbor to refinish them. He is into it and all of his teak is finished nicely. I went with Cetol rather than varnish...

    New Washer/Dryer

I finally got around to replacing the washer/dryer on the boat. The PO had installed a stacked front loading washer and dryer in 2011, but the dryer didn't work when I got it (broken belt) and the washer didn't work well (busted support bolt). I thought about repairing them but they were an off...

    Lavatory Faucet Cartridges

Does anyone know the cartridges required to replaces the inner workings of the faucets in the sinks in the heads? Mine work but are tight on some of the faucets. 1978 53 MY.

    CO2 Fire Supression System

While moving the new fridge down to the galley, we triggered the CO2 system emergency pull. The panel was unscrewed and leaning so we could fit the fridge. I was on one end and my wife and son on the other. I told them to lift but it seems that when something is doing the lifting for them, it is...

    Galley Sink Fittings

I know this has been discussed elsewhere, but what is required to connect a standard faucet line (like you get with a kitchen faucet from Home Depot) to the copper lines in the boat? I have two female copper lines, one for hot, one for cold. When I stopped them up, I used a 1/2" brass plug, that...

    Sink Water Lines

What size are the copper lines connecting the sink? I am not at the boat and want to pick up a couple of valves to install on the way.

    Plank versus Vinyl

I am in the middle of re-doing the galley, and I was pretty much decided on vinyl because I felt it would be a better fit to a floor in a boat, but now I am looking at the laminate planking. Does the laminate planking stay down well?
