The last three antifoulings in Sydney Harbour have been disastrous with the whizz bang recommended antifouls lasting only 9 months before succuming to barnacles. Everyone in Sydney is in the same boat, so to speak. The available antifoul is simply not effective. I cannot use the boat as I...
After nearly 10 year of ownership the major electrical and mechanical repairs have mostly been completed. We moved on to the interior which was very tired.
New carpeting, furniture, blinds, batroom upgrades.....
The last interior jobs were the floors and the front bow rails. Here are some...
I am wondering if there is still a contact / email address at Hatteras who may be able to provide me with two missing wiring diagrams for our boat?
Thanks.
Q1. The area above the genset room has aframosia wood paneling but a previous owner seems to have added a reddish tint/ stain to the aframosia panels . I have reduced the reddish severity by wiping down with aceton, but would ideally like to now remove most of the reddish staining. Would you...
Both engines twin intercooler's have vergegris on the gasket ends and also sinister powdery aluminium now resting on the blower below. It seems the rear intercoolers are worse than the front. Its now time to service them. I'll do one engine this year and one next year.
We are going to...
I have just cleaned my Walker Air Sep filters. Difficult to buy Walker products here. What alternate oil can I use to oil them? WD40 seems too easy but will also do the job?
There are three of these oversize relay type parts in the lower section of our AC Distribution Panel.
They seem to click a bit when the genset is switching on/off or when we switch to the inverter.
Given there are three AC sub panels, I guess there is one gizmo for each.
I showed this...
The starboard engine has always leaked some oil into the bilge. Over the past couple of years this seems to be increasing. Today I now have more than a gallon of oil in the bilge and I have watched the dipstick oil level go down after a recent 4 hour run.. Not good. There is obviously a...
The lower starboard side AC circuit is tripping. Boat was modified 10 years ago and each AC circuit now has its own GFCI. Has worked flawlessly until this week. We have been looking for wiring faults, bus bar faults, lighting faults, corrosion at power outlets faults but are yet to find a...
After nearly 8 years of owndership we are getting to the interior cosmetics. All the carpet was toast and smelt. The lounges were tired.
There has always been duscussion about carpets and flooroards on this forum. I went a different way and lay down commercial carpet planks. They are...
I am wishing to purchase a RIB tender to go up on the rear flybridge deck.
I have seen a newish Williams 325 jet tender for sale and 640lbs dry weight.
I am wondering if this may be too heavy for the davit/lboat lean/ease of use?
My wheelhouse port throttle control has started leaking out the shaft that connects to the control arm. (Six years ago a similar thing happened to another control and was fixed by the seller.)
There is still supply of the seal kit but the very brief response from the seller was
"The ECS-06...
So the Marquipt davit is being rennovated at the same time the dinghy chocks are being repositioned on the back flybridge deck.
The davit has not been used often in the seven years we have owned the boat. Mechanically and electrically its fine, but we will replace the wire with dyneema...
We are about to buy a 10'-12' RIB and refix / repositioning old aft flybridge deck pad eyes and deck cradles.
When we got the boat the original cradles were bow stern with 25hp motor, but motor overhanged the cockpit and visually not a good look as you climbed the cockpit stairs.
Would there...
I've killed yet another set of port side lead acid batteries through leaving lights on. Another time a float switch malfunctioned and the batteries never recovered. And Covid lockdown absence killed another set. Aghhhhh.
There has to be a modern day way to disconnect the house DC load from...
I wish to update the cable for the Marquip davit on the boat and also look at swapping out the motor from 120 V to 240 V. I have previously installed a brake service kit.Could you please tell me whether I should replace with stainless wire, a high-tech rope, or a strap?Where would I find a...
Checking over the engines today I've noticed two spots of verdigris on two different parts of the intercoolers.
The first gasket / repair looks to be removing the top cover of the forward intercooler.
The second gasket / repair seems to be removing the rear cover of the aft intercooler...
The old Robertson autopilot works great and does everything we need.
However it seems quite twitchy making small adjustments every few seconds. The pump is located above the wheelhouse so we hear it.
I've read the manual several times but am unable to work out how to reduce the "twitch."...
