    Heavy Weather

    Tsunami in Japanese harbors

It appears that like in a hurricane, even if your boat is securely fastened unless you are uptream of floating boats/ships/houses and other debris, damage is likely. I wonder what the relative force of all the debris is rising versus falling water heights.....because much is subsequently swept...

Is is always a fuel issue?

In a recent discussion, http://www.samsmarine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16651 once again lack of fuel proved to be the culprit causing a Detroit Diesel to not run...apparently a leaky RACOR filter.... again. Which got me thinking: can anyone remember anything in all these forum...

    '70's 48ft YF and 43ft and 44ft MY compared

Having just returned from a month aboard Bill Allen's 1973 43 MY (Brielle NJ to Marathon, Fla) with him I thought I'd share similarities and differences I noted relative to my 1972 48 YF. (also a brief comment later relative to the 44 triple cabin MY). From the circa 1971 Hatters brochure I...

    Gulf of Mexico Oil

So first the oil spill caused by BP was covered up, then the media blew it all out of proportion, now I have the uneasy feeling both BP and the federal government have good reason (in their minds) to cover it up. You've probably seen the charts showing something like 3/4 of the oil...
