    Need a Detroit mechanic

I’m slipped in St Augustine. Apparently my mechanic of 5 years is “getting away from detroits” and my port motor needs some attention. All the Injectors we’re replaced 20 hours ago, going to pop test those. Turbos might have 80 hours.

    Recommendations for electrical situation.

When Palm Beach towers installed the tower the spreader lights were mounted on the backside of the upper helm floor with the power switch just inside the salon entry door. The MAJOR issue I'm encountering is not knowing where they pulled the 120v power from for the lights. There's no breaker...

    Light switch’s for house lights

Light switch’s for house lights I have replaced several of the light switch’s/outlets throughout but I’m wondering if a standard 120v switch will work with the 32v lights. One issue I’ve encountered, but can’t explain, is when I turn my lower cockpit lights (32v) on with a 120v switch it not...

Has anyone had their ducting cleaned

I read many threads on the Hatteras smells and causes but here's one I haven't seen mentioned. We have a musty smell that seems to be within the HVAC system. As most know, our units are brand new and "yes" the smell existed prior to install. I have visualized all the ducting I can access and...

    more LED light talk.

Based on threads discussing this I've heard 120v used in 32v, 24v used in 32v, even 12v in 32v and visa versa. The 1228 bulbs in all the closet fixtures are blown, I didn't realize they were there until recently. I see marinebeam offers these...

    Fire suppression tank

Has anyone removed the discharge head? My hot water heater element is toast and will NOT break loose, I’ve tried EVERYTHING to no avail. In order to replace the heater the suppression tank needs to move to get the old out, new in. 3 companies I’ve called are 3 weeks out, admiral says, well you...

    shutdown cylinder failure

ran from Melbourne to Stuart yesterday via ICW. Upon arrival smelled something electrical burning, found the shut down solenoid smoking and untouchable it was so hot. 1st question: is there a means to shut off power to these? I removed the hot wire and it stopped smoking, when I tried to...

    Low voltage from 120 side

One AC unit is 120, the other (3) 220. The 120v unit is only getting 107 volts, as are the outlets throughout the vessel. Where do I even start trying to figure this out? I really feel like this is beyond my ability, any recommendations who’d be qualified to diagnose?

    Onan MDL4 problems.

I’m hoping these are related, recently when trying to start the gen the no AC power alarm goes off immediately. Sometimes it will start and run for awhile, other times start and suddenly die but the alarm still goes off. Fuel filters are new, replaced the oil pressure sensors,Fuel pump rebuilt...

    Raritan seafresh install

We decided on raritan elegance for the fwd head and the Atlantis Freedom for the master. I’m using the original momentary switch’s in each head and think I have the correct understanding of wiring the switch’s to the toilet but I cannot process how the fresh/sea water switch Is installed. I’ve...

    shore power cords

One of the live aboard opportunities I am looking at has the shore power (single 50a) 100' from the dock. Would take another 75' to get to cockpit. The owner swears the last vessel there had a cord long enough to work. Is it possible to build a 50amp cord that could carry the load 200'? what...

WTH is going on at oceanbreeze?

Has anyone interacted with the company lately? I've been trying for a month to try to get a system developed and built and it has been an ABSOLUTE chit show. I can't understand half of the emails due to the language barrier, quotes for self-contained vs split vs chiller seem too difficult to...

    Hits just keep on coming.

Found no 12v power on the bridge which lead me to a dead mastervolt 12/20-3 battery charger. Traced 120v to the connection, other connections are solid but unit does nothing. Only change was replacing the battery with a new Lifeline AGM. Unit isn’t hot, doesn’t smell burnt, guess it decided the...
