3 phase wye configuration is 208 between hots and any hot to neutral is 120.
Good marinas are upgrading to transformer systems so it can have 125/250 in 180 degree single phase. Cheap owners are not doing this and their power usually sucks.
We design systems for the 125/250 single phase on...
Thrusters need a heavy start battery. Just a lot of power in a short burst or 6.
As for renogy. They make cheap inverter stuff. I'd not think any better of their batteries. Their lithium is crap by the way. The local renogy people use a lot of victron lately.
I'm also very disappointed with...
It's possible to completely avoid scamazon. I don't use them at all. There is nothing they have I cant get elsewhere and usually at better prices.
They also bring in cheap Chink crap and violate us company's sales guidance and prices.
If you can't find them let me know. I probably have a few.
Just to be fair.
A customer came in for an inverter. He and his guys maintain his boat. Generator was locked up. Water in oil. Waterpump and cooling system a mess. So th3 inverter gets smaller and a new Generator goes in.
Next we see the mains with all kinds of leaks between the pump and...
Pump capacity is directly related to the btu rating of the system. Bigger is not better. It's just bigger.
Before armchair mechanics send you down the wrong path get the numbers and run the math.
They are ANL fuses. They rating and quality is important.
Screw the Chinese Amazon crap. It's not worth burning a boat down.
Be careful what you get as there are a few that won't fit the boxes.
I use alot of them. Many peopl3 don't know the smaller(below 250 amps I think) won't fit the same...
82xx is discontinued about 10 years. Look for modern alternatives.
Garmin 86xx is current as is the xx43 series.
Both will be a huge upgrade.
I sell a lot of Garmin but I also sell furuno, raymarine, simrad/navico and other brands
Not that easy. The inverters must be matched. After a few years the boards get a few revs behind and can't work with the new ones.
But what do I know?
FYI I have inverters, batteries and accessories on the shelf all the time. Ask around I can supply ready to install systems preprogrammed.
Look at a proper installation with power management.
Like 2 x 5,000 watt victrons if you need 120 and 240. I sell a lot of these to boats with big generators and 50 amp shore cords. Also 2 x 10,000 watts for larger loads. Both have 100 amp pass through and mange the power.
Also consider 24 or...
Its ot the end of the world if the meter doesn't work on an old worn out generator but if it's running well why not spend the $200 to fix it right. Generator hours are pretty open to interpretation. 5000 to 10000 could be it's life expectancy. That's a big range.
Fluke has a lifetime warranty if you keep the original receipt. Screw them. They just don't honor it. I have 3 fluke meters I can't get repaired. They're cracked and won't stay together.
For the price I went with kleins. I use them every day and ever seem to have issues except dead...
I'd question the wisdom of rewiring yourself. If your not sure how to check a unit voltage its probably ot a job your able to take on.
I constantly find issues with "updated" systems done by owners and even some "self appointed professionals ". It's amazing more of these boats haven caught...
Re: Light switch’s for house lights
Remember when you start a fire it's usually with small things like kindling and fibers. Then the big stuff catches.
The contact area is a bit small but the failures come from melting the stud with heavy draws. Larger cables will help the temperature and if you ever go back to real batteries you have a set of jumpers you can use.
It's not a mission critical solution for sure but if you "can't" get the right...
Keep in mind the cost of doing business.
There's rent, liability insurance, inventory, labor (extra hands) and not the least the equipment.
I can't imagine having to tool up for any business cheaply.
For example
I use a lot of cat 6 style cable that will be terminated in many ways. I...
