I find that hard to believe. The stanchions are attached just like a cleat with an aluminum backing plate. This is a Hatteras. These are tough. I've been tying to them for the last 22 years and mine are just as tight as when I bought the boat and no stress cracks.
Its not connected to the battery directly. It goes to one of the aluminum boxes in the engine room that has your battery disconnects. Inside of that box is a fuse on a bus bar. Whatever bank feeds that box is the bank that the windlass is running off of. Open those up and look for a fuse...
That did it. Thank you. I thought leave meant it would leave it there. Didn't realize it meant to leave the conversation. Not intuitive, but I've got it now.
Ran 90 miles in calm seas to Saugatuck, MI, mostly at 9kts to just enjoy the ride. But we did pick it up for a while on the way back.

We took a short trip to Muskegon this weekend and stayed at a new marina development there. Construction was still underway but the facilities were nice and the restaurant there was good, so it was worth the trip.
