    Davit AC winch

My 2700 lb pull AC Davit winch was damaged in the fire. I am looking for a replacement. My dingy is a 12' Rigid Boat and weighs about 600-650 lbs. The 2700lb winches I have found seem to pull 3.5-4 FPM. I saw a 1500 lb model that pulls 9 FPM. Any idea if a 1500# would do the job or should I go...

    Boat fire

I got a troubling call Friday. A 26' cruiser blew up at the gas dock. The attendees cut it loose and it drifted into my LRC. She suffered damage to the stern and dingy on the boat deck. I am just beginning the process of contacting the insurance company. I am looking for the best fiberglass...

24 volt thruster with 8 volt batteries

I am replacing my thruster bank. I thought they were 2 sets of 6 volts in series to make 24 volts. Charged by a Guest 2 bank charger. Turns out they are actually 8 volts. So it looks like I am running 32 volts to my 24 volt charger. Is this common?

    Start bank

I just replaced my port (3) 8D bank which starts my port engine and is my house bank. They were heavy and it was not fun, especially on and off the boat. I also just replaced my original Lemarche charger with a 70 amp Mastervolt smart charger with 10 amp for a starting bank so hopefully I will...

    Engine room LED strip lights

After breaking a 12 volt fluorescent light with my head I explored options. Today I replaced all three with 30 feet of LED strip lights. I am very pleased with the results. It is brighter and is a bright white as opposed to the yellowish white that I had. They don't put out heat and much less...

    Another davit question

OK guys, I posted a picture awhile back of my davit asking opinions of capacity. I also called and sent pictures to companies that make pipe davits. I never got a good answer. I have now bought a hard dingy which weighs under 650. I picked it up about a foot off the water and let it hang for a...

    New AC evaporator

Looks like I have a bad leak on the old evaporator on the Cruise Air unit I replaced last year. I searched the forum because I thought that you guys had recommendations on replacement evaporators but couldn't find it. Any recommendations or just take whatever stock unit my AC guy orders?

    Davit capacity

I am considering upgrading my dingy and so considering weight limitations. Anyone know the capacity for this Davit? It is 3 1/2" pipe with about a 7' long 4" standpipe. I have spent considerable time searching all of my documentation and not found specs yet. What kind of dingys were typically...

    Engine winterization coolant capacity

I decided to winterize my engines to protect them in case of an electrical failure. How much pink stuff should I run through a 453?

    Inflatable pressure in winter

The last 8 years or so I've had a Whaler for a dingy. I now have a RIB that came with my Hatt. I don't think I have a leak but the pressure in the tubes has dropped way down with the weather. I probably won't use it till spring but the cover fits better when full. Do you guys keep them pumped...

    Vacuflush issue

My vacuflush has been occasionally tripping the breaker lately. When reset it appears to work fine. However now, and maybe not related, the pump won't shut off. It is possible that it is clogged. When i try to flush, no water goes down and no "whoosh". I shut it off and haven't been there in a...

    Generator oil recommendation

I am getting ready to change the oil in my 17 KW Onan MDKAD. Previous owner used Shell 30 wt. I have always used straight 30 in my gensets as well. However, I spoke to an Onan dealer who recommended only 15w40. What do you think?

    AC no fan

Wow. Lots of AC posts. Heres another from me. Got down to the boat with the intention of using digital controls to make the fan run with the compressor instead of power on so i could leave it in hummidity mode and not run the fan 24/7. However when i arrived i noticed the fan wasnt running. I...

    Direct tv service

I currently have cable at home and a KVH on the boat that i need to get setup for service. Called Direct tv with the intention of signing up for the service i saw on the webpage. Got hold of the department that signs up boats and was told I'd have to buy my two boxes and get the package i wanted...

Fan runs full time with AC digital control

I might have heard mention about digital controls with older air handler issues but didn't want to hijach another thread. So, my two units with digital controls seem to run the fans continuously when the units are set to cool regardless of whether the compressor runs or not. I assume the air...

    Delivery completed

I left Ft Lauderdale sometime in April and arrived to my home marina in Nashville on Old Hickory Lake on Thursday. I immediately wanted to turn around and go back. Its probably the most fun Ill have on a boat until i hopefully retire and go back the other way. I am unbelievably impressed with...

Tenn-Tom condition site and time to travel

My boat is presently in Mobile after a rough Gulf crossing. Im planning on heading up the Tenn-Tom next week. Anyone have a good site to check river conditions? Also, I haven't done this waterway in awhile. How far do you think i can reasonably get in 7 days at 7 knots? Pickwick? Thanks
