Dirty Fuel - Asphetine vs. Bacteria

Drained a bunch of crud out of my strainers today. Looked like black flakes which when rubbed between your fingers turned grainular. Is this asphetine (sp?) or bacteria? Stainers are not clogging yet but this stuff can't be good. What's the best way to deal with this?

    Warning - AirSeps on 671 TI's @ 390-410 hp

For those with the above engines who have - or are thinking of installing AirSeps please note that the system DOES NOT WORK out of the box. Before installing , you MUST call Walker and advise them of the manometer reading at WOT. They will then specify a "calibration ring" to throttle down the...

    Installing Small Inverters

I want to install a small inverter to run just the TV & Stereo. My plan would be to go to generator for Refrig, HVAC, & hot water. I figure the combined load of TV & Stereo is about 300 watts. Questions: - Can I permanently run these devices off the inverter, even when plugged into shore...

I've got about 100 hours on my Air-Seps. They are not really dirty but I would like to clean them up for the sake of good PM. Walker specifies that only their name brand cleaner should be used. I suspect there are generic cleaners which would work just as well. Anyone have any suggestions or...

    New FAQ/General Discussion Section

The non-postable FAQ section under general discussion is a good idea. Can we nominate threads? I'd like to start with ""DD Overheats" and the Genesis proceedure for Phosphoric Acid descaling of Hx systems.

    6-71 Fuel Pump Problem

Passages got splashed today and I immediately set about coaxing the engines back to life. :) Port engine would not fire. Spins freely but not even a hint of firing. Air-Seps are clean. Fuel Tank was at 1/8 but I added another 15 gallons of fresh stuff. Disconnected the primary filter output...
