Recently acquired the family 1987 17' Boston Whaler Montauk gratis my Padre. It has various teak trim, including anchor hatch, fishing rod holders, door and trim on center console, and of course the helm seat. Many years ago I used "Honey Teak" from Signature Finish that used a final 2-part...
Beautiful boat! A 43DC looks best without fly bridge.
On my 43 DCFB, I had the entire deck and aft section primed and painted with Awlgrip 2000 outdoors on the hard it came out great - no blemishes at all. Yard that did it was a Brewers too (fancy), think I got lucky.
Yesterday I noticed my neighbors 30 amp shore power cord had fallen out (42 Bertram) and into the (salt) water. The connection was still live as pedestal breakers did not trip. Not sure how long the live cord was in water. Marina Manager tells me happens frequently and seldom issues with...
Thought I would post something I find fixes 90% of electronic items, including computers, TV's, and any thing else that may have small electrical connectors inside. If one of these items craps itself, unplug it and remove the cover and take out and then put back in every electrical connector...
Attached are pics of device I made out of $20 worth of PVC fittings for HE Flush. Agree in place generally better as it's gets the transmission and fuel coolers and everything else in between. I took pictures with a $30 endoscope I picked up on Amazon that hooks up wirelessly to your phone of...
Anyone recommend a good looking binocular holder for semi-dry location? Would like to mount to vertical surface near the helm, preferably with flip cover and felt lined inside. Closest thing I found is this at West Marine...
The 110v hoist was very handy, last time I replaced batteries was 10 years ago by hand. My back was more reliable back then and I did have help. Paid $125 for hoist on Amazon prime (1300 lb), not the tool you necessary want 'harbor freight' quality in, but it did work well.
I grew up near the water and by numerous boat yards. Growing up provided allot of fun slumming around and eventually working in them. Sometimes we would 'borrow' pieces of loose dock styrofoam, throw a pallet on top, and hold it together with sticks while paddling out with 2x6's. Other times...
I'm laying out a new autopilot system for my 1976 dual helm hynautic steering 43' Double Cabin. I need to add T's with shut off valves and flexible connections from the Autopilot pump to existing 1/4" copper return line and existing 3/8" copper starboard and port lines to steering cylinder...
Had the Privilege of drinking and dining with Northeast Hatteras group last night (Dan, Nick, Rick - owe you money for the bar tab!). Discussing possible up-sizing from my 43 DC to something with a cockpit, Glory told me about the 58' Cockpit Motor Yacht. After goofing around at the bar on the...
Your only partially right according to Xantrex, for anything over 6 feet you need 350 MCM cable!
