We're getting it ready to put on the market, so posting it here first. It's a 1971 58 Yacht Fish, with Detroits. Right now getting new fuel lines installed from to/from the engines and new batteries. She needs some A/C work. Right now, we just don't have the time to enjoy her as we planned...
On our 1971 58YF, the wing doors, rear deck and side doors have the glass built in. The rear doors haven't been painted over, so it's easy to see where you remove the wood trim to remove the glass. Anyone tried this yet? Wondering how difficult of a job it is. As all jobs, it appears that it...
On our 58 YF (1971) the starboard drain seems to go forward a bit before it goes into the sea chest (I assume that is how it drains, I don't see any other drain holes). The port side seems to go straight down into the sea chest. Has anyone worked on these? I think the starboard is plugged up and...
Does anyone have a diagram or pictures of the fuel line setup on the engines? Recently had the fuel lines replaced and I think that some of them got mixed up. The engines will run for a few minutes then stop.
Have an 1971 58YF with Detroit 8V71Ns. After having a fuel link leak and all of the lines replaced, the engines will not stay running.
Found lots of great articles on here, and one is that I need to double check all of the lines that were replaced to ensure they are sealed properly.
Another...
I noticed that there is a forward overflow (on each side) from the forward bilge of each engine in our 1971 58YF. There's a hole in the area in the engine room that goes to these bilge areas. Do they need to be used? It's very nasty in those forward bilge areas and seems that they don't drain...
Sorry for the delay, I took some pictures including the measuring tape last weekend, from the port side to the middle. And one from inside on the starboard side.
I reviewed a few old posts about what systems people have installed. I have a 1971 58YF with 8V71s. I looked at the Flowscan NMEA 2000 system and received a quote from them for $2400/engine. I'm afraid of what the Maretron quote will be.
I started looking through the old threads and found the...
We purchased a 1971 58YF earlier this year and have been getting to know the boat well. I was looking under the cockpit and noticed that there isn't a bilge pump there. Is that normal or does it flow under the tanks to the bilge located in the master stateroom?
