I just purchased the book Yachts and Ships of Jack Hargrave on Amazon.com. This is a wonderful book. It has a great history on the Hatteras Company and Mr. Hargrave. I recommend it highly to all. You could put it on your Christmas wish list.

Admiral thinks she wants to fish and cruise more than just hang out in port. The prices on some of the 50Cs and 55Cs seem very attractive. Anyone have an opinion or experience on either of these fine convertible models that replaced the 53 c?
Many thanks

I noted an earlier thread that addresses converting from 32 to 12 volt DC. Has anyone investigated converting from 32volt to 24 volt. I think wire size might be less of an issue? Also, I noted that on the last run 1987 and 1988 53MY I have looked at a couple with 24 volt systems. I do not know...
OK,

We are all concerned about the drop in actual prices realized for wonderful Hatt such as 53MYs. The most recent example I know of is an 1985 that was purchased for $350K 2 1/2 years ago and just closed slightly above $200k. By the way, I say this boat and it was in very nice shape.
But it can...
FYI, this morning I spoke with a good friend who is a broker whose firm used to rep a well known line of quality Taiwan Yachts (been in business many years) in the 55 foot to 100 foot range. Bank of America changed the rules of the game on floorplanning (inventory financing) and end loans...
Like many of you who have complained in old threads about the lack of meaningful information in just about all boating mags, I concur.
However, I have found a diamond in the ruff that I recommend. Being a former sailor, who has now found the comfortable side of cruising, I subscribe to...

I have noted the past threads addressing the Algae-X unit and fuel polishing.
Has anyone else had experience with the Algage-X unit? The cost seems to be quite modest versus potential benefits (under $1,000 for a 53MY).
Fuel polishing systems appear to be another matter. As they are able to...
