    FREEZE Warnings for South Florida

...And you thought the Miami Boat Show was chilly? YIKES! I have great sympathy for everyone stuck in the "Polar Vortex". I saw the reports today on Great Lakes Ice Cover and Niagara Falls being frozen for the second year in a row. I can't imagine what you are going through. Here in South...

    Miami Boat Show CHILL

The Miami Boat show is this weekend, February 12-16th. However, anyone planning to attend had better dress warmly. That polar vortex thing is supposed to reach South Florida this weekend for our coldest blast of the winter season! The average high for mid February is 77! We might not see...

Hatteras 43 Motor Yacht Power Question

I was discussing Hatteras 43s with a friend. I'm confused about power options that were available in this model. Some early models offered 853s, 903 Cummins, or GM671Ns. Were all 671 models the in-line 6s? or were some 6Vs. When did they begin offering 671TIs? 285hp, 310hp, 385hp...

    60' Non-Hatteras Bargain?

I was perusing (not "pursuing" low price big boats the other day. I know there are Hatteras buyers here who dream of the right boat at the right price. When I ran across a "one of a kind" old Chris Craft Commander listed on Yachtworld in Virginia. It looks like all the original parts are...

    Horrible Nasty Hatteras 70

Hi Y'all I had a chance over the weekend to see with a friend, a 70' 1994 Hatteras Motor Yacht listed for sale up in Stuart. Admittedly, the broker DID tell my friend that the boat "Needed Some TLC"... I don't like putting down anyone's boat. ...And I know it's only my own hyper-critical...

    PIZZAZ Update

After a busy holiday season, it's back to work on PIZZAZ. I finally mounted a 40" TV in the salon in an unlikely location, without blocking any AC vents, existing cabinetry, or window treatments. I was also worried about losing "window space". I was lucky that a standard issue full...

RARE Hatteras sighting! 28 Sport Fish

Apparently, in 1966 only, Hatteras offered a 28' Flybridge Sport Fish model. Few folks have ever seen one. How's this for a rare treat? Cool looking boat huh? The owner just had new Crusaders installed. He's planning on refinishing is next.

    PIZZAZ Update

It's been awhile since I posted an update on my latest PIZZAZ. (41 Chris Craft Commander). Windy November weather has slowed the entire project. However, New Carpeting and Salon furnishings arrived Friday, and made a noticeable difference. Here is the Before and After... Pretty Nifty Huh?

    Shhhivvverrring in Florida!

Here we had a record high of 89 degrees yesterday. I wake up this morning to a delightful 78 degrees. (the cold front didn't get here yet). Then WHAM!!!! The wind shifted, it started to drizzle, and by noon, the temperatures plummeted all the way down to the mid 60s! NOON!!! It could...

    Ft Lauderdale Boat Show Weather

Hi Tom5518 My 41' Chris Craft project has been extra-extra slow. The only compound and wax guy I totally trust was out for 6 weeks with back issues. The initial "wax everything" project is finally done. I've got to admit, for a 35 year old finish, it came up real nice, but it delayed the...

Hi Y'all! Get ready for some "WINTRY" weather for the Lauderdale show this year... While Thursday and Friday is expected to be typical "Autumn-Like" for South Florida... High 82 Low 70... A nasty cold front is expected to push thru late Friday... with a few showers Friday Night...and it's...

    Clayton NY Antique Boat Show

While PIZZAZ is hauled out for fresh bottom paint in South Florida, I took a trip up to Clayton NY for the Annual Antique Boat Show. Still one more day to go, Sunday August 3rd. I thought I would share a few images from the show and the Antique Boat Museum. The 1000 Islands are just...

    The newest PIZZAZ is home

I am so glad to back in Southeast Florida! The latest version of PIZZAZ cruised home beautifully from Ft. Myers over the weekend. 8 Knots at 2200 RPM. From Ft. Myers I took on 85 gallons at Clewiston. That's real close to mile per gallon economy in spite of 454 gassers. She ran flawlessly...
