    Am I nuts II

Bought the VRO packing for the 37C with 3/4" shafts, 3/8" just like my manual says. No way it will fit in the compression nut. I measure 3/16" from the shaft to the top of the thread. I suppose someone could have changed the stuffing box in the last 30 years. Am I missing something. Hal P.S...

Our 37C has 1.75" shafts and takes 3/8"square flax. How much (length) do I need? The blueprint shows three rings per shaft. I ask because GFO sells the fiber packing in 24" lengths. Thanks Hal

    Cetrex auto pilot 701?

We have a non-functioning Cetrex 701 on our 37C. I can not find any info on the web. Is it a throwaway? Company out of business ect? I note that some older boats like ours list them as equipment. Who repairs the head units? What does the paperclip mean on a thread? How do you plug in a web...

    Winter 6-71 service?

Happy New Year! I would appreciate some input on my origional plan to develop a maintenance base line for the DD 6-71 TI's we have in our 1979 37C. We brought the convertible down from Winthrop in November and it ran well. Some specs: The 671-TI are Covington factory-rated for 410(crank)...

    Almost There-37C Survey

First, thank you to everybody on the forum, and especially Tony Daily, for their responsiveness over the years to my quest for a Hatteras. Looking back, I recall that I was initially focused on a 48 Yachtfish, then the 42c, and most recently, the 37C. Of course, I looked at Bertrams, Posts...

    Toronto,Canada to New England

Can you transit in a 42C down the NY canal system with a half tower (not tuna)? Power Boat Guide says the clearence is 13'3" but I assume that is without anything on top and what little I could find so far indicates clearence is as low as 15' in some places 20' everywhere else. Thanks Hal

On the hunt for a 37C

Right before our two week vacation to the vineyard we sold our 10 meter Trojan express-bittersweet. I am actively looking for a clean 37' Hatteras with Diesel's. A 42' would also work but they seem to need huge cash infusions. We want to keep the price around $100k but will be flexible for the...

    Hatt 37' Convertible

The good news (as far as I'm concerned) is my wife has discounted the Post 42, Bertram 42, and Viking 40. I have always wanted a Hatt and with three kids 11-8 the 42C flybridge is big literally. The problem is I have left myself with no alternatives and all the 42s I have seen are not worth...
