    Cleaning up the dink

Well, I broke down and decided to clean up and paint the dinghy. As with all paint jobs, the real work is all prep related. This one wasn't any different. The biggest challenges were removing all the mildew and degreasing the tubes. The "Foolin' Around" decals on the tubes were a royal pain...

    Fired her up Sautrday!

Spent the weekend on Kismet getting her ready for the season. Beautiful weekend to be on the water! With the help of a friend, I did my own own and filter changes, along with getting all the dewinterizing projects done. I've said many times here, that I LOVE these engines and this weekend was...

    Editing Threads fm IPad

Anyone else have any issues saving (submitting) changes to your threads? Maybe I'm not explaining properly. If I respond to a thread and find later that I had a typo or grammatical error, I try to fix it. If I'm on my iPad, I can make the change, but can't "save" it for some reason. Anyone...

Where to buy Rotella 40W around Va?

Without getting into the whole "Delo, Valvoline, etc." is better discussion, I need to find some Rotella 40W around the Virginia area. I've used it (as had the previous owner) for years with great results and analysis. Engines don't smoke at all at any speed or temperature. Trouble is, it's...

    Rod Holder Recommendation

I need to put a rod holder/rack in the guest stateroom to store rods when not in use (most of the time). There's a perfect spot on the interior wall above the starboard twin bed. I'm in search of a NICE horizontal rod rack and would like some recommendations. Teak would obviously look nice...

    Quick help on Naiad Stabilizer

We're supposed to head out early tomorrow mad my stabilizers are showing low fluid. Does anyone know where to fill these? There's a mushroom shaped cap on top of the canister, but it doesn't want to come off. Feels like a relief valve. I have the manuals, but they just say "fill to full...

Where would you mount this radar antenna?

Mike, thanks for the offer, but I've already got two of those sitting in the garage! :) I think I'm going to need something like this:

Where would you mount this radar antenna?

I picked up a new "used" Garmin 24HD a few weeks ago and am trying to figure out where to mount it. Simrad will stay up there and used in the pilothouse. Garmin will act as a back-up on the flybridge. It will probably mount on the soft top structure - but I'd prefer not to do that.

After all that happened yesterday morning, this was how we were greeted coming home last night. Great example of why I LOVE cruising at night!

    garmin in hull placement

I just installed a new Garmin/Airmar M260 in the forward bilge if our LRC. Put it in the center on the bottom because it was level down there. Unfortunately, I'm not getting a signal and starting to second guess if this unit (1kw) will shoot thru the keel portion of the keel. Has anyone else...

Knockdown and Capsizing - Sail Training Yacht Concordia 300

This is one of the best maritime accident reports I've ever read. I think all of us can take "something" from reading this extensive report. While you may disagree, I believe we all operate our vessels with some form of complacency - or at least within a "comfort range". In the case of...
