I think this is the best layout ever. I do believe the v-drive was the weak link, though in her history I only see one drive ever needing repair. My real desire would be to put state of the art engines with V-drive transmissions attached. thus moving the engines all the way forward to the ER...
I stumbled upon these beauties today!
I am told they are 8V96's! a custom Detroit built by Jack Bevins of Stuart FL now past. I have read a little bit about them, but the highlight are that a change in the crank shaft, timing, and exhaust push rods drove the HP up to 880, and increased...
I could not find any newer posts on Spray Rails. What do the assembled experts think is the best resource for replacement spray rails? Mine are 15' over all long. any ideas?
Last weekend, with help, I re-named my 64' Hatteras. Attached is my 11 minuet video. There are many to choose from, I chose the one that has the most "Toasts" in it. But Neptune is happy...I hope;)

I am trying to determine the rough number of 32 volt users still in the world. I am too stubborn to give up on what seems to be an extremely robust system, so I am trying to convince a specialty Battery company of the market size.
Would any of you 32 volt using yachtsmen/women please respond...
Permatex thread locker is not new, but they have just released an ORANGE formula holds like red, but removable with hand tools (not heat) like blue. To me this is the perfect balance for the engine room of Diesels.
When I bought Aquamarine, the captain who showed her said the ignition "buttons" at the helm don't work, and it was better to start her in the ER. I did not disagree, and because the shut down worked from the helm I was not too concerned. 6 weeks later (after bottom job) I forgot, went to the...
very little. Last coat, #6, I put a splash of brushing thinner in it, and smooth as glass.
This photo is 3 weeks after last coat on Starboard rail. We'll see what happens after a summer in Houston Texas Sun.
I was in Irvington VA this past Week-end and wanted to share a picture of the docks of the Tides Inn. No I did not stage that gorgeous Yacht...it was just there. Space does not seem to be an issue right now:D
I have spent the past 2+ months refinishing some truly wrecked rails on my 1975 Hatteras. My kids talked me into making a how to video for you tube, so I thought some might like to see it. Videoing, editing, and acting are not my forte' but I believe you will get the gist of it.
Also this...
I have re finished two of my doors, and the 1/4 round molding came out easily because the steel nails were rusted away. very little prying at all. I cheated and painted 1/4' cabinet grade plywood Hatteras off white after sealing with polyester resin. Don't judge me I am on a budget:D
