    oil cooler problem

Crusader model 350, 454 oil cooler. found one leaking around the seam where top casting meets the tube. Question is how are these assembled? are they silver soldered together? or is the pipe threaded. new cooler is 280.00, I hope there is a way to save the one I have instead of a new one.

    Hull Trauma

To get a good idea how some boats are made, go to usauctions.com and look at the wrecks. note the bayliner 47 and the searay 35, both hit something at higher speeds and pushed both struts throught the hull. there is also a hatteras 42LRC that wound up on a jetty, holed and sunk. very...

Crusiing ICW and Minimum Wake Zones

I seem to iritate some individuals when traveling on FL ICW going through Minimum Wake Zones. The definition, and I am paraprasing it, is boat must be completely off of plane and settled into the water the wake must not be big enough to cause damage to property or harm to others. I usualy...

    cruise ship list

quite a specticle yesterday with the Crown Princess listing 45 degrees. News is saying steering problem but it sounds like stabilizers to me. Money on computer problem causing stabilizers to get wacked out. had a smilar issue on a smaller boat with bent rudder. Rudder post bent back...

    moisture in fuel

It would appear that that majority of the water that gets in the fuel tanks comes from the vent. I wonder if a dryer in the vent line would work. Use a dryer from an air compressor. if this works then it could possibly help keep fuel tanks dry, mainly the gasoline tanks subject to ethanol...

    E85 fuels

I found an interesting site that discusses E85 fuel, appears to confirm what others have said about reduction in power, however it stated this reduction is in older engines. Manufacturers are contending that they can make an engine that will run as efficient and some more efficient that on...

    Polyethelyne tanks

I just got off the phone with Ocean Link, they tell me that the tanks do not have baffles in them. They claim that since tanks are one piece molded that they do not need them. sloshing of fuel will not damage the tank. He said it seems bertram and hatteras owners want baffles because they...

    Fluid dynamics,

My Cousin answered a question for me and here is his answer. found this interesting and could possibly help answer some questions regarding our hulls etc. The fluid dynamics are the same since both airplanes and boats are moving through a fluid (although with vastly different densities and...

    Keel walking

There has been alot of talk about this problem in the past and some currently. Some have repowered older boats and at new higher speeds the problem is starting. I noticed that one member had new larger rudders made. I am wondering if larger rudders and enough toe in would cause enough torque...
