    New Purasan install

Background-Preparing for new 12V Purasan install which will plumb to a freshwater 32V Vacuflush system. I would like to trigger off the 32V vacuflush system as well. Primary Purasan electrical and trigger both must be 12V. I have 12V at generator and 32V house/engine. I spoke with Raritan and...

    raw water pump

I did a full rebuild of 2 Johnson f5b-9 pumps. One of the pumps is working great but the other does not pull a prime. I pressurized the system and found no water leaks. I also resealed the cover with gasket sealer. I have already ordered a new one but would like to find out the issue. Any ideas?

    Non-metallic cutlass

Any reason not to use the non-metallic cutlass bearings? If it matters, it is a Blackfin with 1.25" shafts and 5.7L gassers used in saltwater stored on trailer.

    gasser repower questions

Not a Hatteras but I am thinking the folks here will have the answers. I have very little experience with gas inboards. I bought a 1979 25' Blackfin Combi with twin PMC 305s(both locked up). I am looking to replace the entire unit as the accessories are suspect. I am leaning towards Crusader...

    Raw water intake question

I plumbed the bait well and the only raw water intake besides engines was for ACs. I went ahead and plumbed off that but the bait well pulls enough water to make the AC cooling marginal. It is best to move to a larger intake or install a separate intake?

    Anti seize?

After a complete removal/tear-down for cleaning and paint, it is time to reassemble the heat exchangers. Is it wise/recomended to use an anti-seize compound on all the bolts.

    Intercooler hoses

I had the intercoolers cleaned and now ready to reassemble. The output hose is 4.5" ID which is available. The inputs are 3.5" ID but parts list shows 3.125. The cast number is 892223 which I can not locate on the net. Is this something specific to marine or am I just missing something?

    Window treatments/forward corner boards?

My '86 52C had the original mauve and white pinch pleat curtains. They covered all the way to the windshield. I am not completely satisfied with the original look for the forward section and looking for options. I have already made the rear curtains and recovered all the cornice but want to...

    Bad turbo

How free should turbo find be? I was checking my turbos and there is a discernable difference in how free one turbo feels, when spun by fingers, compared to another. Can you tell if a turbo is about to go bad?

    41 Hatt goes down

BOCA RATON— One imperative kept two men stranded at sea in a tiny dinghy alive: Keep moving. "It's like those survivor stories," recounted Mike Ayres. "Don't stop. If you stop, you're done." It took three days, but they finally made it, landing ashore on a Boca Raton beach about 6:20 a.m...

    Boat fire

http://www.oceannavigator.com/content/yacht-burns-hilton-head I believe this boat was at our dock just the week before. It is amazing how fast these things can go up. It was estimated that it took less than 3 minutes. Nice folks, thankfully they are ok and the dog was saved.....

    Pay it forward

Yankee charts. The PO left a large number of old charts for the Northeast including a couple of the ring bound versions. I have an allergy to anything north of the Mason Dixon Line so I will never use these charts. Did I mention they are old? If you have a use for them I will happily mail...

Denninger, have you lost your mind?

"All health providers must publish a price list and may not bill or accept payment at anything other than that price; doing so becomes a violation of Robinson-Patman and exposes the provider to civil suit for treble damages. This instantly stops the practice of billing the uninsured or...
