    Re-bedding - advice

Hi All, I'm going to be going through the boat removing screws/hardware and re-bedding them. I thought I saw a thread out here on this but couldn't find it. I'd like some advice on doing this: 1, if the screw is solid and gripping well should I put it back in and leave it alone or inject...

    Painting the Aluminum Rub Rail

Hi all. I've decided to revitalize the look of my rub rails. They don't look all that bad, but they have marks and discoloration where things rubbed over time, a couple of scratches, scupper wear, and a milky white look in some spots. My guys are telling me I'm crazy that it looks fine but I'm...

Looking for Mozambique Teak vineer or vineered board

Hi All, I have been working with Sams and a rare wood dealer to find what Sam's tells me is Mozambique teak. In the attached photo you will see under the TV the teak has a feather or tiger pattern to it. From what i'm told it's not afromosia. I'd prefer a sheet of veneer but if someone has a...

    Oil Pan Replacement

Hi All, For the last 3 years we've had a tiny bit of oil show up under the port engine (Detroit 8V71 Natural). Being purists we've wanted to locate it and fix it, but we could never really track it down....until last week. It appears that threads on the oil drain plug are not stripped off but...

    Exxon XD-3 40W

Hi All, I've used Rotella T40 for the last 3 years. Unfortunately the shipyard that I have a good relationship with has swthced to Exxon XD-3 40w. Reason seems to be that for my 8v71 naturals it's a superior product. Any feelings one way or the other ?

packing glands leaking - need educating

Hi All, Please remember I'm not technical nor a DIY.... My mate noticed water in the bilge during a weekly maint review. His guess was 20 gallons...he removed it with a wetvac and the cause was obviously the port packing gland. I realize it's normal for them to drip a little but this is...
