    Galleymaid Waterpump part II

It's working. Cycles every 15-20 seconds between 22 and 32 PSI as per the book. It appears the hot water heater is acting as an accumulator too though. The shower experience is as follows: Set the temperature and enjoy the relaxing effect of the water. Pressure drops slightly..... temperature...

Todays installment of "fun in the engine room"

The RACORS looked pretty messy. So I took them apart and cleaned them up. Re-assembled with a clean filter in it. (The filters themselves didn't look bad, and the vacuum gauge was not showing any issue.) Someone ahead of me put in primer pumps. Flip the switch and watch it fill. A beautiful...

    Tachometers.....

They are electric, I got that much. Can anyone tell me where they get their data? Only evidence of RPM leaving the engines are the cables coming off the transmission oil pumps on the front going to the synchronizer. The book lists 3 possible locations on the rear of the engines but I am not...

    Aft shower sump....

There are two 1-1/2" ish hoses coming into the aft shower sump. Here I was thinking it was the aft and the mid shower. But when I ran both it all came out of one hose. Anyone know what the other hose is?

    Raw water intake valve position.....

So I was just sitting in the SB engine room communing with one of my boys. (The engines have names.....Janus (P) and Karel (SB)..... a VERY long half a century old story). This is the engine that was running a little warm last week.... So here I am contemplating how I'm gonna tear into the raw...

    What's in a name....

There, that looks better. Stern decals on order, fortunately what's there is also decal so a blow dryer and a plastic razor blade should take them off. New ones ordered the same size to try and minimize noticing any fading from old name.

    Water pump woes....

Brand new Galleymaid water pump. After the adjustment on the cap over the pressure switch it did fine. Today I checked the gauge under the bed and it was JUST above zero. So I flipped the valve in the closet to open the tank under the inboard bunk in the VIP. Later on the pressure went dead...

    Shakedown cruise......

Well, took her out for the first time yesterday. Did a 5 hour tour up the East Shore and in and out of the Sassafras. VERY VERY enjoyable. The boat rides nice, and we were cruising in style. So much fun..... A few technical notes. During pre-departure checks stuck my head under the swim...

Galleymaid Waterpump with a sense of humor.

Brand new pump. Power to it is off when we're not on the boat. So we got here and it didn't come on. Wiggled the little handle on the pressure switch and it behaved perfectly all day. Well, it did it one more time. While I was in the shower......;););) Hasn't done it in the last 24 hours. About...

No more calls, we have a winner!!!

Looking for late 70's under counter cabinets.... specifically the under sink fake drawer front and two doors, but can look at other pieces to see if I can fill an approximate 24" section, the face being just under 31" tall. (there's some wiggle room there.) Please pm or email oscarvanloveren...

    Poof goes the fuse....

2am while making the bed for the first night on board it got dark and the noise stopped. Admiral not pleased. :D Fortunately my imperfect but growing systems knowledge was sufficient to handle the situation. No AC on left leg per the volt meter. Checked dock breaker (conveniently located under...

    And the hits keep coming......

In a good way. Not only did the seller leave me the original manual, with all the blue prints, and the engine service manual parts 1 and 2, he also left me a box with receipts which I am now delving in to. Not just a box, a file folder hanging box, organized by year in chronological order...

    Lost in the bilges......

Another day of discovery in the far corners of our Hatt. Do have the manual, in fact the one that came with the boat originally, AND a generic one. So found two water tanks with gauges and two fuel tanks with gauges. Also two waste tanks, with a remote system that has the green/yellow/red...

    220/120V selector panel questions.

If I get boring with all these questions let me know. Meanwhile, having been type rated on various large airplanes I have the need to understand the systems and not just know where to put the switches in my home slip. To those taking the time to answer, I really appreciate it. S1 And S2 I...

    32V DC questions....

For starters, do I recall correctly that SB bank is also house bank? Not on the boat so that makes these questions harder...... Secondly, I do not have the big panel with the 4 battery selectors. I have one single selector in each engine room. ON/OFF So.... how do I connect the two banks...

    A measurement if you can....

Measured LOTS of things today, except the width of the opening in the sliding lower helm doors.... If anyone is on a 53 of my era (maybe a 58 too?) Thanks......

    Wires to upper helm.

Haven't looked at this either as I haven't got the keys yet. ;) Seller had bow thruster installed in 2018. There's a control at the lower helm, but not at the upper. Now, I may well dock from the lower helm as it's a few short steps to the spring lines, but I am also contemplating adding a...

    Transformers....

When I asked seller about the isolation transformers I got a blank stare...... Shore power still comes in through the old style fuses located in engine room... Haven't had the time on board yet to trace further. Where, if installed, would these beauties likely be found and does anyone have a...

    Original A/C thermostats

Seller says they are very finicky and it takes a while to dial them in. From what he's describing the "spread" is too large on the on/off Are they adjustable? Some home thermostats I've worked with were.....
