Steering pump nut that is. The acorn nut that was on the old wheel is a hair too wide for the hub cap on my new wheel. I have it down to 3/4" but can't figure out the thread..... 3/4"-10 will not go on more than 1/2 turn......

See picture. It's 1/4" rod diameter, overall 1.4" and inside 1" It fits my gipsy. But unless it's an especially strong chain I'm wondering if it's heavy enough for a 53MY. It's plenty long so in most water around here I can have 10:1 or even 20:1 if I want, although that would be a lot of swing...

So the buildup in our raw water systems necessitating the acid flush is obviously a byproduct of mostly (alkaline) salt water..... Just like outboards a fresh water flush after running would not be a bad idea. But where to connect the hose. I have a 1/2" NPT hole in an elbow in the intake...
