    Too close?

Somewhere buried in another thread Mr Clarkson mentioned a magnet/whacky compass situation which was an "aha" moment for me.... The PO's choice for compass sensor and Algae-X So is this too close?

    A suggestion......

I believe Ed is a member here and my remarks are in NO WAY intended to disparage him or his skills, but after watching the following video I would recommend not "a layer of glass" and some polyester on the plug seam on the bottom, but SEVERAL thoroughly wetted layers of increasing width with...

    Need a logo measurement please.....

I bought two reproduction metal Hatteras logos. I want to use one of them on the TV cabinet that I am making but, of course, they are on the boat and I don't know the dimensions. Does anyone have these and can you give me the height? +/- 1/2" is close enough. Thanks...... Picture is of an...

    A minor electrical mystery....

To be solved when I can turn the heat, and everything else off. The power for the 4 block heaters is 120VAC. There is an outlet in each engine room where two heaters per engine plug in. Wires go to a box with two on/off switches. From there a wire goes up into the helm, and then over to the...

    32V charger behavioral changes......

This is in dock, engines off, shore power connected. For months it would charge for 2-3 minutes, as witnessed by a fairly loud humm, and pump 2-30A into the system as witnessed by the gauge. Then it would stop and the amber light would illuminate. Turning on 32V users, like the engine room...

    Boat Command

Just installed the system yesterday. Today sitting at home and the screen tells me the boat is where it's supposed to be, the OAT is 30ºF, the engine room temp is 47ºF, the shore power is on, and the 12VDC system is showing 13.7VDC. If any of those parameters change by a set amount I get an...

    Another interior phase completed.

New curtains in, salon almost done. The $14 Amazon steamer remarkably effective on the wrinkles. Let them hang for a little now and maybe hit a few more spots and we'll call it good. The rope lighting behind the cornices on the light curtains do an amazing job brightening the space up. Last part...

    Another mystery solved.

I've finally found a "Consulting mechanic" who will keep me out of trouble, for a fee of course, as I do my own work, and if necessary get his hands dirty if it gets tricky. We discussed my SB engine temperature indications which are suspect at best as they disagree with the IR point and shoot...

    Back deck construction.

I am 99% sure of the answer but have to confirm that the back deck on my 53 is a fiberglass/balsa laminate? Thanks.

    Fly bridge support.

There are a lot of things I like, but a few serious things I don't like about my back deck enclosure. It's aluminum framing with sliders on the side, fixed plexiglass corners and back panels, with a center door to get to the swim ladder. 1 Aluminum framing is blistering. It was painted not long...

    Ice maker shutoff.

Before I tear the boat apart....... Anyone know if there is a shutoff for the water line that runs to the ice maker in the Port side cabinet on the aft deck? Thank you.

    Still a noob.....

At the supreme risk of stating what everyone knows, but on the off chance that someone will benefit...... It was quite windy the other day when I went into the engine room and about had my hat blown off. DUH! This may explain why the hallway had trouble heating up. The temperature there is up...

    AC pressures

Two heat pumps are kicking butt. The other two are working but not as they should. Suction side on the former is hot, on the latter is tepid. On the latter what I believe to be the dryer (soup can sized container next to the compressor) is icing slightly. My limited experience says they're a...

    New Salon Cabinet.

End piece for the couch, "in the period Hatteras vernacular". Pretty happy with this. Still looking for the correct door pull. If you want the whole story it's here: https://ladykay.blog/salon-cabinets/

    Cabinet handles.

I'm looking for a few more of the late 70's kitchen cabinet style handles. Thanks!

    Washer/Dryer removal.

It was dead. With a few modifications it fit through the doors no problem. Replacing it with a two-in-one this spring. Will put a matching door in the lower side of the panel, and then put shelves in the upper part for some much needed storage space.

    Tom Hug ??

Talked to him in August and agreed to contact him again when I was down in the Kent Island area as he is there frequently. I've left several messages over the last few months..... Anyone know his status? Thanks.

    Heating data......

For reference. Due to going down hard with the plague my winterization program was interrupted to the tune of three weeks. I did through it all monitor conditions and thankfully I was given a break. It briefly dipped into freezing territory by one or two degrees twice, but the water was still...

    GM Head Question.

Starting to order some parts for the winterization optimization mods. Does anyone know the ID of the "fresh" water side hoses on the Galley Maid head pump off the top of their head? (haha) ? Gracias.
