I am looking for an onan ring gear 104-1666. It is an out of stock obsolete part but there has to be one out there. Any used and in good shape?

In a pinch you can remove it and turn it around to the not worn side. Also try Ess-Kay on lake onieda NY answer Onan parts.com. Did you have the bendix on the starter replaced also?

I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap, but a gear shop could probably weld and re-cut.

Try Yachts and Diesels in Ft Lauderdale, they have quite a few mostly dead Onans they’re breaking down for parts.

There is also an MDL4 takeout at Crosswinds Marine in Whitehall, MI sitting on the shop floor. Many of the parts on it are gone but the flywheel/ring gear may still be there. You could try calling them.

Thanks Walt and yes new starter. Doesn’t look like it can be flipped due to machining.

I just looked closer at the pics, it is different than the one I had. I had straight cut teeth.
