when will you know if they accepted your offer? If you're talking about the section of forward deck that I think you are don't sweat it. Coosa board that whole thing and fait it in. You could park a car on it when done and few can tell what you did if done properly. You can do it in a few days too.
Strippers in Action (adult content)
So here you can see the effect of the pressure washer on the bottom paint after 45 minutes soaking it with the Jasco remover.
paint stripper for bottom paint
So the first 2 candidates have been tested. The Klean Strip is weak the Jasco is stronger. You gotta keep this stuff wet otherwise it hardens up like you never used it and I'm convinced it actually dries and bonds the bottom paint together making it harder to...
Today in Bay County Florida we had some totally unauthorized torrential rain to the tune of about 5+ inches. Didn't quit till about 8pm cst. So I of course got the lights out and started stripping bottom paint off the stern below the swim platform. I've been experimenting with different...
Remember back when telephones had wires going to them? This is yet another hole in the fiberglass of the cockpit area that will be getting filled. There are also 3 110v duplex outlets in the cockpit area, WTF did the previous owners need with that many outlets?
I was wondering what these ER vents were made when I took them off the boat. I put some paint stripper on it to get a look at the metal underneath. Turns out this is some nice thick aluminum. Kind of industrial looking in my opinion.
Side marker lights. Anyone know if these are available NOS? These are really well made. The color globe is actually glass too. Might have to spring to have these rechromed and convert to LED.
Visited the helm wiring also. After removing the side access panels I went ahead and removed a few redundant wires going to the engine compartment. Haven't gone full time on the wiring yet but it looks really good and I don't expect any surprises. Looking forward to tidying all this up.
flipped up
You may remember I had to drill out all the top windscreen attachment bolts on the starboard side. Well much to my surprise all the bottom bolts came out with just a screwdriver. They also did not have nuts on them to be held. I'm still not sure what the bottom bolts were screwed into? I'll find...
More windscreen frame pictures. Nice work on these extrusions Hatteras. They fit together very well and have held up nicely being almost 50 years old.
the male portion of the track, this is found on the side window frame and mates to the front window frame.
window frame just after we got it...
The aluminum window frame assembly is an interesting piece. The triangle side pieces slide into the front windscreen frame from the bottom up. We took all the lower perimeter bolts out and broke the frame loose on all three sides from the rubber sealant which had a surprisingly good hold on the...
Okay technical pictures and what not. I'm posting all these pics with the hopes it will help someone see how this stuff comes apart if they are doing it themselves. This collection may also bring back some memories to you guys who have done this in the past. I needed all hands on deck this...
Good tip Jim Rosenthal on the silver/gray paint.
madhatter you are right, I am keeping everything so far. I'm going back with lots of new parts and hardware but I am still keeping everything now for reference purposes if nothing else
We got alot done today (Saturday), spent all day on task. We...
Here was an interesting find. I couldn't get a picture fast enough to show the water running out of this hole when I removed yet another large flathead bolt. This one came right out and the channel going up at 45 degrees was filled with clean water, a lot of water. I wonder how long that has...
I've jumped on the Ryobi 18v bandwagon and am not looking back. I use these tools professionally and have yet to be disappointed. So here is the angle grinder with a 4" cut off wheel. This will turn about 6000rpm.
great for cutting off bolts and any quick grinding job
here is a drilled out...
