Finishing dialing in props on my 1988 38c repower with c9 cats. Seems like motors were flashed to 575hp tune. As we get near wot there’s some major keel walk starting. Anything that I should be looking into before looking at cutting down the keel?
Has anyone ever changed the space where the cabin ice maker is into tackle storage? I’ve never used mine and not even sure if it works. A bag of ice is easier and tackle storage there can never be enough of.
Anyone have any first hand experience with their hvac units? My condensing units don’t look pretty when removed during my repower. While I’m in there…. It may pay to replace the original 1988 units. These being r22 compatible seem very intriguing instead of replacing the air handlers as well
Does anyone know how I can find out what the orignal 1.75” shafts on my 1988 38C are made of. Trying to determine gear ratio we can use on the repower without upgrading shafts
I think I have a set of motors lined up for my 1988 38c this winter to upgrade over the 671 Detroit’s. A repower is a good opportunity to clean up old wiring, replace items that are difficult to get to such as battery charger and a/c condensing units while engines are out, Any suggestions of...
Anyone have any familiarity with them? May be able to get a deal on a set that would mKe an ideal repower on 671 Detroit’s on paper but not familiar enough with the engines themselves. Specifically the 6.7 550hp
The starboard side lid on my 1988 38c seems to have had the coring rot out where the hinges screw in on the back. Anyone have one laying around from a junked boat or suggestions to repair
According to the factory my 1988 38c with 671 Detroit tibs came with 26x26” 3 blade props. They are long gone. When I bought the boat it had 26x24 4 bladers on it. I was told it should have 24” props. I don’t have enough diameter when loaded, but my yard is saying they think 26x26 3 bladers...
I have a transducer leaking, there are 3 of them in the area of the leak, 2 old and one new one. Any suggestions how to figure out which is actually leaking before launch
Thinking of redoing the salon floor in my 38c. There is a company that makes teak and holly veneer 3/4” plywood. Would it pay to remove subfloor and put this down or use something like plasteak or amtico over the original subfloor?
