Looking for 31c owners to compare notes

How many 31c owners are out there? Just bought a 1969 that has been converted to diesels. Needs cosmetics. Would like to hear from other owners and what they have done to theirs.

    Wanted-Teak railing section

Unfortunately, I have lost a section of teak railing on my 1968 TC. It is the lower section of the stern gate. It has a slight curve, and is about 28.5 inches long with the smaller type chrome ends. If anyone has the ends, or the entire section, I would like purchase them. Capt Ratty

1968 41-foot Twin Cabin Motor Yacht

If you are looking for a classic Hatteras that is ready to go, you will want to look at mine. Go to HarborYachts.com. I am the owner of the boat, the listing broker, and a member of this forum for 1 1/2 years. The boat is located in New Bern, NC, and is priced at $98,500. The way I have...

    saving fuel

What would be wrong with running on one engine for an hour, then switching to the other eng for an hour. Slow speed, maybe 8 knots. Fuel savings? Longer eng life? No harm to trans? 41' TC with 6v/53. Typically burns 1 gal. per mile with both engines @ 8 knots. Thanks

    refrig/freezer

Just noticed the other day that the refrigerator was freezing everything. Simple, turn it down. But no. Now the freezer compartment won't do its job. This unit is original to the boat (1968 ). Is it time for another, or is it repairable. The refrig section is maintaining 40 degrees, as is...

    lectra san

I have a lectra san that was new about a year and a half ago, and it works great. However, when under way the water level in the bowl rises a couple of inches along with some odor. Reflush and it's ok for a while. Any suggestions.

    bird pooh

Does anyone have a solution to keep birds off our boats? Barn swallows seem to be the biggest problem.

    exhaust noise

I have a 1968 tc with twin 6 / 53 Detroits. The exhaust noise is very loud, almost to the point that you can't carry on a conversation without shouting. The rpm is at 1200 to 1500. Are other boats this loud or do I need mufflers? Is it a design flaw? If I need mufflers, where is a good...

    opening windshield

Has anyone had to deal with a once opening center section windshield that has been caulked shut? Are they prone to leak or have other problems? It would be nice to get a flow of air through the pilot house. What kind of seal was used, and is it still available? This is on a 1968 TC. All the...

    portlight trim

I have replaced five of the forward portlights in my 1968 41 TC. I now have available the heavy duty chrome trim rings that went around the outside of the port. They will not work on the new ports so they must go. The size is 7 X 15 One port is still usable. Make me an offer.

    engine removal

If an engine had to come out of a 41TC, does it exit through the window area? If so, is that the only way? Thanks

    portlight trim

Does anyone have the need for the chrome trim rings that go on the exterior of the portlights? Very heavy with nice chrome. Really sets off the ports. I replaced five ports and they won't work on the new ones. Size is 7 X 15. Make me an offer.

    medicine cabinet

Anyone have a med cabinet that has a rough opening of 12" wide and 16" high? Took them out of my boat because they were in bad shape inside. Went to the land fill. Wish I had them now to repair. Can't seem to find new in that size.

    Bedding

What is the best type of bedding for the bunks? Foam or mattress? What I took out was a piece of 3" foam and a piece of 1" foam on the top and bottom of that. Another bunk had a 5" piece of foam (one piece) but wasn't nearly as comfortable. What was the original? Do you need something...

    Another Hi-Lo table

I have a Hi-Lo table that the Admiral says does not jive with her interior decor plan for our 68 Hatt. It measures 3'X3' when opened up, and 3' X 19.5' with drop leaves down. Heights are 25 3/4" up, or 15" down. Someone foolishly stablilized the top to the base by running four carridge bolts...
