Big victory on Siboney this week! both engines came out in under 1 hour 30 mins! pouring rain didn't stop this team! The team tha removed the engines was highly recommended by Pascal that he used to repower his 53MY. what a great group of mechanics! The owner, Luis Mesa is 72 years old! his half a century of engineering and mechanical experience is amazing. thank you Pascal for the great recommendation!

Now begins the disgusting but very satisfying process of decontamination cleanup of 51 years of Detroit Diesel sludge and ripping out all of the old wiring and god knows what else. I'm excited and motivated.

for the life of me I, i have no idea how to turn all the pictutres right side up...

I got a little nostalgic and sentimental chatching this last glimpse of both those old ladies as they rode away under heavy rains and wind. i hope they live on, fresh overhauls and in their element. Truly I have nothing but serious respect for Detroit Diesel and especially for these two!

Just curious... whats YTIC KROY WEN ???z47.webp

I see you used John for the crane too. He s great.

Luis is amazing. He did my engine removal and install, fabricated the engine beds etc.

In September we had to haul out the 116 to redo the drip less rudder seals. He had them both done in a day!

Mario,
Try this,
1) Click on your profile NAME,
2) Click on EDIT GALLERY BLOCK,
3) scroll down and click on EDIT IMAGES which is a subtopic in GALLERY SETTINGS,
4) SELECT an IMAGE, click on EDIT IMAGE (lower left of image area),
5) see IMAGE MANIPULATION on right side, and select the degrees to rotate it and then click on SUBMIT.
Repeat for other images in your profile.

Edit:

I tried this and while the image was rotated (funky muffler) it did not change the photo in the thread I started. I guess to correct this all of the photos have to be rotated (try windows paint) and reloaded.

Neither do I. I emailed Doug about this.

yeah, it's definitely a bummer. I have a ton more pictures and vids to share. hopefully we can figure it out.

He's looking into it. I don't think I have the controls to fix it.

Great pics! Im in the process of buying a 58YF (Wild Goose) and it was repowered with 8V92's. I wondered how they got the engines in there but those pics answered all my questions.

If you don't mind me asking the impolite question, what does something like this cost? Where is this being done, Miami?

I wondered what happened to Wild Goose , it was on the west coast of Florida, it was owned by a Doctor that I knew, a car enthusiast too.

With basically the same engines/gears, and up-sizing the struts/shafts and all associated work like changing from 32v to 12v, I have right around $200k into my repower but that was 2 years ago. Both of us have done/are doing a major amount ourselves, so it would be much more if that were not factored in. Still, I'll bet Mario will have a little more into his with the rampant inflation of late.

Mario, just think how good the engine rooms are going to look with fresh paint in the bilges and new engines! And the money you save in not buying engine diapers will probably pay for the whole repower. (ok, maybe not ALL of it)

Yea it was bought around a year ago and the guy is already selling it. I have the haul out and sea trial tomorrow; hopefully all goes well. Do you happen to have the contact (email) for this Doctor, or his name? Id love to ask him a few questions about the history of the boat.
