Simrad gave us a new chirp black box sounder (S5100) to replace the BSM 3 chirp box. We had placed multiple calls to their tech support complaining about performance, they had already changed out the BSM2 for a BSM3 previously and sent a tech twice. Anyway my phone rings 2 months ago with a call from New Zealand, a Simrad VP calling to ask some questions including if we would like a free new chirp box, no shipping, no other BS. Now I'm really mad because we now know what we've not been able to see swimming under the boat, think that's pretty good customer service.

Re: Electronics Recommendations & Resource
Here is what I know today about what is available:
Actisense EMU-1 : http://www.actisense.com/product/emu-1/ - Around 500$
Pros: Good hardware. Good support. Well documented. Also couples with companion product NGT-1 which is a USB to PC adapter.
Con's: Uk based so hard to connect via phone. Static Guage config which means only newer senders will work. READ: Our old AC Delco senders are a no go unless they push an update. Not plug and play. You need one device per engine.
Noland MD 33
http://nolandeng.com/md33.php
I haven't looked at this device close enough to determine whether it will work. I like that its self configurable. This could potentially work for both engines....I just noticed the that price of this device has been dropped in half. I just bought one. I'll post back with my findings!
SeaSmart

This one looks new to the market and promising.
DMK AEM 14
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...SIN=B00T86K9S0
Pros: Flexible configuration. Low cost.
Cons: Small company. Long term support is unknown.Last edited by MVCaprice; 08-22-2017 at 01:37 PM.
