You know that drain plug on the bottom of our racor filters, that sits in a couple ounces of water. I usually just remove it and drain the bowl and replace it as fast as I can so the racor doesn't completely empty. Well today I noticed that it was a little loose when I was removing it, so I put my finger over the hole to stop the fuel from coming out and took a closer look at the plug. This plug has been in this racor for several years, and to be honest this is the first time I have actually completely removed it and looked at it. This was a potentially dangerous situation. I have attached pictures for all to review. I will be replacing all of my drain plugs today.

Good catch. This is what I did to make draining a little less messy. Works well unless you get a lot of shmegma in the bowels.

Plug or drain valve.
I have an extra plastic bowl drain valve assembly. In my hands two days ago.
I'll mail it to you.
Send address in a pm.
Overnight or snail-mail?

I have never seen plugs in the bottom, only the two piece drain valves. Did this plug come out ot the hole for the optional water sensor?

It looks like the plug for the water sensor. A couple of years ago, it started leaking on my gen racor causing air to be sucked in resulting in the gen to surge. Took me a while to figure it out. I only did after putting a priming pump near the tank and noticing a drip at the racor.

I have attached some pictures of my Racor assembly. It has a drain plug on the bottom of each unit. A drain valve would be nice, but I do not have enough room under the units. The Racors on my two generators are also the same. Thanks for the offer Captain Ralph, I am OK on spares at this time.

I wanted to follow up with pictures of the inside of the Racor bowl, since I have it disassembled. You can see the water sensor and the bottom drain.

If you zoom in on my picture you’ll see I added a 90 and a nipple for lack of clearance under the bowels.

Perhaps a booster seat on the toilet would help.

In CGOST4's pic you can see the drain and the off-center water probe plug.
It was this off-center water probe plug that offered Pascal a bug.
This may help in some confusion.
