Last winter I cut the raw glass “yellow” section out and gasketed lexan in the center. But they leaked. Has anyone taken them off and replaced the hatch all together with a bomar? Or lewmar? Or any other brand

if you replace it with something other than the original you will probably have to cut into the deck to get rid of the lip from the original hatch. this will have to be re-glassed. i also think that lip adds strength to the area around the hatch

I put plexiglass in my hatch years ago with no leads to date. You need to rabbit the edge of both the fiberglass and the new glass piece to give plenty of area for caulk and leave a gap between the rabbited edges for expansion. The glass and fiberglass expand at different rates as the temperature changes
