AC control

I have, in my Master SR, a 10K AC unit still using a 3 knob switch. I think the thermostat has failed. I would like to up grade to something with a temp display.

Any suggersions?

Does this system turn the fans off when the unit is not cooling / heating? Also, assuming you put them where the old controls were, can you post images of how you modified the openings?

I replaced all my old units with the new controls. I used a piece of teak to cover the holes.

I can't answer your question about FX-1 but fan speed when not cooling or heating is definitely a programmable setpoint in the SMX-II controls on my boat. Hopefully a newer system would have the same ability to program that feature!

Yes, can be programmed that way

Works fine with dual units. The units are easy to wire. The control board has labels for where each wire goes.

I need to replace the ac unit in the guest/vip and I’m torn between a split for about $6k installed or less than $3k for a self contained that I could install myself. I want to replace the controls for the salon unit and was told before that an upgrade was about $900 and i didn’t see the upgrade worth the cost.

Sorry for the delay as I haven't signed on lately. Yes, you can program the FX-1 to turn off the fan when it reaches the set point. The only issue I have found with that is there is only a 2 degree variance before the FX-1 calls for cooling so the fan and pump somewhat "short" cycle. There is no way I am aware of to increase the delta between when it shuts off and calls for cooling/heating. They may have changed that in later versions.

I found that the short cycling occurs when the thermostat is placed in the wrong place. I have one unit that does this and I ended up putting that fan on continuous which helped. You could try moving the thermostat panel, but of course, that means you'll have a whole to cover. My other 3 units are fine so apparently placement matters.
