I am seeing these engines for only $30K. Are those real prices? Less than the cost of an 8-92 rebuild.

Don't tell Mario, but I paid $46k each for engines with gears.

Love to read about repowers here on Sam's, even better when there's a great outcome. Btw, we have 2" shafts behind our 800hp CATs, 1.5:1 gears, 28x28 medium cup 4 blades, 5000 hours without any shaft issues.

With the 2:1 reduction and the long length of the shafts, we had to go up to 2-1/2".
