Went to N. MI over the weekend and relatives report know of several locals who are on their way to N. Dakota looking for drilling jobs (see the huge N. Dakota oil find post).

Didn't see any private watercraft in the water in Harbor Springs, Cheboygan, St. Ignace, or Charlevoix. Ice really not out yet and a couple freighters, a 700' straight decker and a 1,000'er were fighting through ice in the Straits of Mackinac. Must have been a little tough, as the big boat was in the lead and the smaller was gaining.

Very light ice most harbor locations, but was 55 degrees. Lots of snow on Nubs Nob and Boyne Mtn, but no skiers. Beautiful day Sunday...(Apr 6)...
