Re: Heres the windup...
Hey Bill. I like that little Park State. I know a guy who owned one just like it. It sat in Lake Charlevoix in the 1980's docked right next to the Annandale. It was a fun little tug.

Re: Heres the windup...
Hey Sky--- there was about 100 of these built as a "bridge tender class" for the Army corps of engineers.(USACOE) Even for a single, that little guy spins on a dime and was a breeze to handle. Pretty big semi balanced rudder. This has a 6-71N and some have 8-71s. Truly a little work horse. Wide open at 6mph. Check out the big wake behind it...sure aint no Hatterascal!! ws

Re: Heres the windup...
Bill,
I was out on that little tug several times. The 671 just purred and the little pilothouse was great. We just took a couple of sight-seeing trips around Lake Charlevoix on it but I could tell that it had plenty of power. If I had a place on the lake and money to burn, I think I'd have to have one of those.Sky Cheney

Re: Heres the windup...
I like your choice of adjectives !! Purred? At 1600 I found the use of foam ear plugs rather soothing ! Frog is heading north !! ws

Re: Heres the windup...
The first one listed is the Seneca, which sadly went aground last year, after the towing line parted in a big Lake Superior storm. The maritime museum that was towing her to Duluth got a bill for a cool $1M from the USCG for the recovery of her from the shores, where she grounded. So at least we know she was towed- up to the "Soo". The max bid of $565 didn't buy her!

Re: Heres the windup...
I am involved with a Non-Profit charity that is starting up a Commercial Maritime School to provide training for entry level deckhand positions. The school needs a tug and a barge to use in the training. If anyone knows an owner that would benefit by donating a tug and/or barge (at appraised maarket value) for actual use by a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, please send me an IM. This need is legitimate and immediate. see: www.maritimeschool.org Thanks! Eric
