The answer is, boats are selling but the prices are down. Way down in some instances. It's no secret that I'm a broker, and my recent experience is quite interesting. Here are a few examples of actual sales: 1986 Viking 41 Conv. T-671 450's, nice non-fished boat, one SR galley down (the preferred layout) SOLD $140K. 1987 Chris Craft 501 MY (a kin to a 53 ED) Ches. Bay shed kept, stabilized, movie star cond. SOLD $270,000. 1988 Chris Craft 500 MY T-6V92's healthy Florida boat, surveyed well, SOLD $140K! 1985 Hatteras 61 MY, T-1271's (a little smoky) Florida boat, No Stabilizers, decent paint, unmolested but tired interior. SOLD $300K!

This is not great news for sellers, but if you're trading up you'll recoop on the next purchase. Bottom line: there are buyers out there. If you wish to sell, you must bring your price to the "new" market levels.
