We just got our renewal quote for Sanctuary. With no claims and no hurricanse last year, we were graced with a 68% increase in our rate for a 5% deductible policy.
Anyone know of any companies writing in Florida this year?
Thanks,

Re: Insurance - again
Have you talked to Charter Lakes? I don't know if they can still place through Markel, but they have consistently done well by me (my small boat is still insured through Charter Lakes although that policy was underwritten by St. Paul)

Re: Insurance - again
After ACE cancelled me last year due to the nasty fact I live in Florida, (but they cancelled EVERYONE in the state) the only company my agent could find was Great Lakes.... Policy was $3100 for 2005, went to $3800 last year.
But 2 boaters in my marina use State Farm and when I called my SF agent, he said they do still insure big boats.....
My policy comes due in June and I plan on checking that out for sure..along with any other options that come up...

Re: Insurance - again
Just spoke with Charter Lakes (they've been great for me in NC) and they've got no prob w/ Hatts in Fla.
I must say I'm curious how the rates would compare.

Re: Insurance - again
I have State Farm and despite everything you guys keep telling me, they say that renewing my policy for my 58 in FL will be no problem. I suppose I will find out soon enough as my insurance will be up for renewal the end of July.
I know I have said this before, but I have had SF for over 30 years now with no problems as to paying the few claims I have submitted. Maybe the renewal is based on the fact I am still a legal resident of TN. I can't see where this would make any difference, but maybe it does. Who knows? (yes, that was a rhetorical question, no response necessary! )
I met a guy in FL at my marina who is a legal resident of NC, but he does carry insurance with a FL based broker. His rate was very cheap compared to what you guys have told me you pay in FL. I will give him a call and find out who he is using and yet you all know.1974 58TC "Freebird", 1965 41DC "Nancy Cay", For Sale - Click HERE for info - sosectn@aol.com
